Wrongful Death Woman Pleads Guilty to Criminal Abuse in Son’s Death

A Rowan County woman pleaded guilty to two counts of criminal abuse in the death of her two-year-old son back in 2010.

Tiea Jones originally faced murder charges in the death of her son Nathaniel, but it was reduced to charges of criminal abuse.

Her then boyfriend Brian Gallagher is out on bond, and did not enter a guilty plea for his charges in the boy’s death.

He is charged with murder in Nathaniel’s death.

The Commonwealth says that child abuse caused the toddler’s death, but Gallagher says a calf stepped on the boy causing internal injuries that killed him.

Gallagher must be back in court next Tuesday in Montgomery County where he must enter a plea or go back to jail.
