The Anderson County man accused of killing another man during an argument has been sentenced to 60 years in prison.
42-year-old Gary Lutrell was found guilty of killing Steve Briscoe. Luttrell claimed he had shot Briscoe in self-defense. Luttrell’s attorney even pointed out that both men were carrying guns at the time of the shooting.

According to documents, the confrontation stemmed from Lutrell’s wife being discovered at Briscoe’s home.
The jury recommended 60 years and the judge agreed. Luttrell was sentenced to 50 years for murder, two years on two counts of unlawful taking, five years on two counts of tampering with evidence and one year for criminal trespassing.
