Arson Investigation Man Arrested After Fire Set in Clay County

A man faces charges because officials say he violated the burn ban in Clay County.

Department of Fish & Wildlife officers found the fire Sunday night on U.S. 421 near Robinson Creek Road. Officers tried to issue a citation for violation of burn ban and serve an unrelated arrest warrant on David Arnett, but they say he tried to run away and resisted arrest.

Arnett was arrested and charged with violation of la ocal burn ban, resisting arrest, fleeing or evading police, menacing, disposal at other than permitted site – open dump, violation of air pollution standards and rules, setting fire on own land without taking precautions,  fire hazards – all other.

He was also arrested on a Clay County District Court Warrant of arrest for failure to pay fines on previous convictions of fleeing or evading police and public intoxication.
