Police have charged a 49-year-old Lancaster man with raping a young girl multiple times during the past two years.
Julio Ramirez, who has no known address, had sex with the girl at various locations in Lancaster city, including homes on West King Street, South Christian Street and South Ann Street, according to a criminal complaint.
Police said the alleged assaults began last year when the girl was 11. Authorities did not disclose how Ramirez and the girl were acquainted.
Officials began an investigation after becoming aware of the alleged abuse on Dec. 14, the complaint states.
On Friday, Lancaster city police Detective Aaron Harnish charged Ramirez with rape of a child, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, indecent assault and indecent exposure.
Ramirez was arraigned by District Judge B. Denise Commins and committed to Lancaster County Prison on $250,000 bail, court papers show. A preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 4.
