A soldier and resident of Florence has been arrested on the charges of sexual assault on a child under the age of 15.

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says the arrest stems from a long investigation in which 26-year-old James Anthony Walker was reported to have been “sexting” with a 13-year-old girl. Walker allegedly had a sexual relationship with her when she was 14 years old.
Detectives started the investigation in September of 2016 and 11 News just recently obtained an arrest warrant.

According to that warrant, the two exchanged emails. In one email chain found on the teen’s phone, Walker allegedly asks her, “U can’t wait to be a mom huh?” and “Like as soon as you turn 18?”
The teen says the two had sex on an air mattress in the back of Walker’s truck.
Investigators were able to take a few air mattresses during a search warrant. One was reportedly in the back of Walker’s truck.
Detectives had the teen message Walker online during the investigation. She told him she may be pregnant and asked him for help. In response, Walker allegedly replied: “I won’t be able to if I’m in jail.” He also said he’d be in trouble because the teen is “young.”
According to court papers, when Walker was interviewed by investigators he initially denied he even knew who the girl was, but then eventually admitted to kissing her.
Walker reportedly told investigators since he was drunk he couldn’t say for sure if he had sex with her, but said, “to my knowledge, I did not.”
Walker, who is in the Army, was taken into custody by agents of the Army Criminal Investigation Division at Fort Carson. Walker has been taken to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center where he is being held on a no-bond warrant.
