Accident Reconstruction Three Killed in Nelson Co. Crash Identified

The coroner has identified the three people killed in a head-on crash on the Bluegrass Parkway Thursday.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. near the Kentucky 49 overpass in Nelson County.

Investigators say the accident happened when a semi may have crossed the median and hit a car, then crashed into a line of trees.

The coroner has identified the victims as 72-year-old Delmer O’Dell, his wife, Vivian “Dolores” O’Dell, and their 3-year-old granddaughter, Kieren.

Another granddaughter, Pheobe, was flown to Norton Children’s Hospital in Louisville. She had to undergo surgery but is expected to be ok.

Mike McRea, a deacon at Ebenezer Church of Christ told LEX 18 that the family was going on a day trip to an Iris farm in the western part of the state to buy some flowers. Delmer was an elder at Ebenezer Church, Dolores taught bible school, and Kieren’s father is a minister there.

“That little girl, she could wrap your heart around her finger in a minute. She had her Granddaddy’s heart wrapped around her finger,” said Linda Murray, a longtime friend of Dolores.

The family is very loved in Mercer County and friends say that the community is feeling their loss.
