Fire crews were able to pull the van from the water, but were not able to locate the driver.
The U.S. Coast Guard was called in to search the area.
Coast Guard crews searched from the mouth of the river past the area where the van was found. At least 25 crews were out searching, plus a helicopter from the Detroit Coast Guard station.
Coast Guard officials suspended the search at 11:30 Sunday night. There are no plans to resume the search unless new information becomes available.
