It has been three weeks since local teen Kayla Chadwick was last seen or heard from and her family and local authorities are on edge.
Since her disappearance on Tuesday, March 27, the family of 17-year-old Fort Morgan High School student Kayla Chadwick has been asking not only the community but the country for help.
On the evening of Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m., family and friends organized a candlelight vigil, ‘Lighting the Way Home for Kayla’ to be conducted at the Museum Park Gazebo on Main Street in Fort Morgan.
Kayla was reportedly last seen with her boyfriend after the two had a fight in the 19500 block of County Road R.7 sometime near 11 p.m. on the night of March 27 and she was supposed to be walking home afterwards. Since then Fort Morgan Police say Chadwick has not been seen or heard from.

Kayla’s family has expressed devastation over the disappearance and have organized several community searches centering around the downtown Fort Morgan area ever since, where gatherings of friends, family, neighbors and those who simply yearn to find the teen have come together for Chadwick’s plight. Although first reported by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at www.missingkids.com as an ‘endangered runaway’, Chadwick is also considered a ‘missing person’ via the family’s report filed within the city limits of Fort Morgan.
Authorities have still not ruled out the possibility that she was taken against her will and according to Fort Morgan Police Department Public Information Officer John Brennan, the listing has no bearing on the way that police and investigators pursue the case.
Nationwide news organizations have also seemed to pick up on Kayla’s disappearance, as CNN’s own Nancy Grace has reposted Chadwick’s story on her blog at http://nancygrace.blogs.cnn.com. The infamous news personality is also slated to air a televised segment on the Chadwick case tomorrow night on her CNN program, although the show’s air time has been pushed back prior.
According to reports, Chadwick was last seen wearing a black spaghetti-strap tank top under a white and blue checkered button down shirt, blue jeans with the left leg cut mid-calf and black leggings on underneath, with black DC shoes. She is 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs about 135 pounds, has red hair with black tips and brown eyes. Kayla’s ears and tongue are pierced and she has a tattoo on one ankle.
