Drug Dog Sweep in High School Leads to 2 Arrests

Two students at McAdory High School were arrested, following a random drug search turned up drugs in vehicles.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies used a drug dog to check lockers and vehicles in the parking lot of McAdory High School.

After the locker check was completed, the dog was taken outside to conduct a search of the senior’s parking lot.

18 year old student Ian James Haddock of McCalla was arrested when 2 bags of a substance believed to be marijuana were found in the back seat of his vehicle.

He was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd degree and has been released after posting $1000 bond.

A second 18 year old student, Eric Benison of Bessemer, was arrested after 12 bags of a substance believed to be marijuana were found in the trunk of his vehicle.

He was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree and has been released after posting $2500 bond.
