Fraud Investigation Online Car Insurance

Los Angeles, CA — (SBWIRE) — 04/25/2012 — It’s the new hot trend in shopping for car insurance, people who are going online to get multiple quotes from the comfort of their own homes.

It’s fast, convenient and the low overhead and a larger client base mean that just like so many other businesses that operate on the Internet online brokers are able to offer better deals.

It is the Internet though, so the fact is that there are fraudulent operators in the mix and with more drivers looking to stretch their insurance dollar a little bit more during this recession consumer complaints have been on the up tick.

The scams run the gamut from phishing schemes that involve fake sites that are operating only to harvest applicant’s personal information to phony operators who are providing completely worthless policies.

Also just like so many other scams have come and gone over the years it’s people with limited English skills who tend to be the prime target.

So to find out more about the problem Adam Tucker, CEO of Car Insurance Hub was contacted for recent phone interview and during the course of it he was able to pass on some helpful tips to avoid being scammed.

He pointed out that, “An applicant will have to provide some level of personal information to an online broker before they can get any quotes. However, there are limits as to just how much information you should give. So if you feel that they’re asking for too much information that goes beyond what should be required simply give your mouse a click and move onto another site. It’s also always a safe bet to go with a larger more established online broker, for instance we now offer quotes in every state of the US.”

His last bit of advice was to advise anyone who shops for any kind of insurance online to go back and verify that any money that they have handed over to the broker has in fact been forwarded to the insurance carrier.

In the end though, one has to be aware that policing the Internet remains a daunting challenge, so a little common sense on the part of the shopper goes a long way.

Also as the old saying goes, if a deal seems just too good to be true it probably is and rock-bottom prices beyond the norm, just like so many other scams, are a common tool of the online fraudster.

Founded in 2007, Car Insurance Hub’s primary mission is to give choice to car insurance seekers. At their site you’ll find an easy way to get quotes from many different insurance companies.
