Private Detective Edgar Vieyra Arrested for Home Invasion

A suspect in a Lexington home invasion robbery that left two people with gunshot wounds has been identified.

Police say Edgar Vieyra, 18, entered a house at the end of Wayland Drive, off Bryan Station Road, around 2:30 a.m. He shot two people and assaulted a third. Another person inside managed to tackle Vieyra and hold him until police arrived.

EMS took the three victims and Vieyra to UK Hospital for treatment. Police say one of the shooting victims appeared seriously hurt.

“One was in pretty rough shape coming out. I would probably say he was critical coming out. The other one I would say was stable,” Lexington Police Department Lt. David Biroschik said.

There were also kids inside the home.

“There were several children inside. I’d say three infants and one toddler. They were in another bedroom. They were all fine. In fact, they slept through the whole thing. We woke them up and took them to their parents,” Biroschik said.

Police say they have not determined the motive behind the shootings, and they continue to investigate.

Vieyra has been charged with three counts of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, burglary and violation of domestic violence order.
