A Madison County man has been charged with trying to murder his wife with rat poison.
The incident happened Sunday at a home on West Walnut Street in Richmond. A woman says her husband, 55-year-old William Cain, put rat poison in her coffee.

After the woman called Richmond police, they tracked down Cain, who had left the home, and charged him with attempted murder.
Cain is being held in the Madison County Detention Center.
