Missing Person Keith GIll

IRONVILLE, N.Y. –

By land and by air, the search continued in Ironville for Keith Gill, 45.

“Kind of like a little mystery,” Linda Breed said.

Breed walks her four pit bulls up and down Peasely Road at least twice a day. She first noticed an abandoned, dark blue BMW with Pennsylvania plates at a pull off Sunday evening. But when it was still there the next day, Breed became suspicious.

“I glanced in there to see if there was somebody passed out,” she said.

Her friend called police. They traced the car to Gill. On Wednesday, his family reported him missing. Gill was last seen Sunday at his family cottage on Loon Lake in Chestertown, about 50 miles away.

“The family says this is out of character for him to leave, not tell anyone where he was going or indicate where he was going,” N.Y. State Police Capt. John Tibbitts said.

Two dozen law officers spent another day searching the woods near Penfield Pond, the area where Gill’s car was found. A dive team also checked the Deep Hole swimming area. What happened to Gill is baffling investigators. Foul play has not been ruled out.

“We don’t have one theory per se, we have not discounted any possible theory,” Tibbitts said.

Police are asking anyone who attended the Penfield Heritage Days Sunday to take a close look at Gill’s picture. His car was found about one-quarter mile from where the festival was held.

“We are unable to find any reason why he came to this part of Essex County,” Tibbitts said.

Along with the ground and air search, investigators are going door to door interviewing people in town. They are also following up on leads in Gill’s hometown and in the Philadelphia area, where he recently lived.

“It’s a big effort, they are certainly doing their best to try and find the person,” Breed said.

A family and a community waiting for answers of what happened to Keith Gill.

Anyone with information about the disappearance of Keith Gill is asked to call New York State Police.
