Wrongful Death Three Men Guilty in Clark Co. Shooting Sentenced

The three men who pleaded guilty in connection to a deadly Clark County shooting have been sentenced.

Police say Christopher Robinson shot at two men in a Winchester apartment back in 2015, and one of the bullets went through the floor, hitting and killing 19-year-old Amber Caudill.

Robinson pleaded guilty to murder, burglary, and two assaults.

Lamont Wilkerson and Aaron Stailey entered guilty pleas to complicity on all counts.

Amber Caudill’s mother, Karen, spoke before the sentencing. In court, she held a photo of Amber taken at her graduation from high school. She spoke about her daughter’s talent in graphic design and how she excelled in academics. She told the three men in court, “you took her last breath,” and she said to the men, “you still have time to change yourselves and I know she would’ve wanted you to.”

Robinson was sentenced to 30 years in prison, Wilkerson was sentenced to 27 years in prison and Stailey was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

A fourth person, Lillian Barnett, is also charged in the case. Barnett is scheduled for trial this January.

Wrongful Death Clark County Man Pleads Not Guilty to Charges of Manslaughter

An elderly man charged in a Clark County crash that killed two women still says it was all accident. He appeared in court Thursday to answer to charges that he recklessly caused their deaths.

84-year-old James Pelfrey pleaded not guilty. Last month from jail, he told us he didn’t see the car he hit in June. And today, his lawyer said the crash was simply an accident.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

The crash killed Sarah Helfrich and Juanetta Mitchell. The women were stopped at a red light when Pelfrey rear-ended their car.  Pelfrey’s lawyer asked the judge if he could be placed on house arrest instead of staying in jail. The lawyer argued that his client is not a risk on the streets.

“He’s already given up his license as I understand it. He doesn’t have a car. He assures me he won’t drive,” Pelfrey’s attorney told the judge.

The prosecutor, however, wants the judge to keep him in jail. He said there is evidence Pelfrey was being reckless. The judge didn’t make a decision on what she’ll do yet. She said she’ll need time to think about the request.
