One person is dead after a major traffic accident on Cherry Blossom Way in Georgetown.

The crash involves two vehicles and a commercial vehicle and has blocked the roadway in both directions near Timberland Way.  Police say that one person died and two others were injured.

A carnival worker wanted for rape is in jail, after deputies took him into custody Thursday night at the Lawrenceburg Fair and Horse Show.

Sean Halper now faces aggravated sexual assault charges. The incident allegedly happened in his hometown of Worcester, Mass. Sheriff’s deputies say they were just carrying out a warrant, but now the question remains as to how someone facing charges of these calibers was allowed to work at the fair.

“It’s unfortunate that he was here with us. I met the young man more than once here during this week and he seemed to be a nice, clean cut young man,” said Bill Sloan, who runs the fairgrounds.

Halper worked in the games and gave out prizes to the winners. He had worked on the fairgrounds since May.

Although background checks are required, they admit that Halper fell through the cracks. Moving forward, the company hopes that something like this doesn’t happen again.

“I just hope the community will still support us here at the fairgrounds because we’ve been doing this — this is about our 144th fair and horse show,” said Sloan.

Law enforcement agencies throughout Kentucky initiated 73 investigations and made 17 arrests in the months of April and May to crackdown on child predators.

The majority of arrests in “Operation Broken Heart III” were a result of the proactive investigation of online networks used in the distribution of child pornography.

ICAC also gave 38 internet safety presentations to around 1,095 parents and teens at school and community events.

The investigation was a part of a national crackdown targeting offenders who: (1) possess, manufacture and distribute child pornography; (2) engage in online enticement of children for sexual purposes; (3) engage in the commercial sexual exploitation of children (commonly referred to as child prostitution), and (4) engage in child sex tourism (traveling abroad for the purpose of sexually abusing children in other countries).

The Kentucky ICAC Task Force, established in 2003, is comprised of 30 federal, state, and local agencies, and led by the Kentucky State Police.

Two Lexington men have been charged in connection with the theft of multiple guitars from local music stores.

Leixngton Police have obtained arrest warrants for Jeremiah Hager, 37, and Jerason L. Banks, 35 in connection with thefts that occurred at four different music stores between June 7 and June 21.

Investigators say that Mr. Hager and Mr. Banks later pawned the stolen property. A total of nine guitars were stolen and six have been recovered.

Hager is charged with multiple counts of Theft by Unlawful Taking (felony shoplifting) and Felony Receiving Stolen Property. Banks is charged with one count of Receiving Stolen Property.

A third white male subject is also believed to be connected with the thefts. Investigators are working to locate Mr. Hager and Mr. Banks. Anyone with information about their whereabouts is asked to call police at (859) 258-3600.

A $10,000 reward is being offered in an effort to help authorities locate an Antelope Valley mother who has been missing for more than a year, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday.

Monique Figueroa, 27, went missing on May. 19, 2015, according to Sheriff’s homicide detectives.

Detectives believe Figueroa was killed and recently received a tip that her remains might be buried off the 11000 block of Pearblossom Highway in Palmdale, the department said.

Cadaver dogs and Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner personnel checked the area but did not find any remains.

The day she vanished, Figueroa drove from her home in her black 2004 Mercedes Benz to an unknown location. The car was found on May 30, 2015 in an abandoned shed in Juniper Hills.

“There was no sign of Monique, but there were signs of foul play inside the vehicle,” the department said in a statement.

When Figueroa drove off, she left her two-year-old daughter in the care of her family.

They became worried when they did not hear from her for several days and filed a missing person’s report. Based on that and evidence from her car, the case was assigned to the sheriff’s Homicide Bureau.

The family is asking for the public’s help in solving this case and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is putting up the reward, the department said.

Figueroa is five feet, three inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds. She has shoulder length brown hair and hazel eyes.

Detectives said they do not know what type of clothing she was wearing.

The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office asks the public for tips to find a man who failed to register as a sex offender.

The FBI sex offender registry says 26-year-old Dwayne Cullins was convicted in 2007 for sodomy and again in 2011 for child molestation. Sheriff John Darr says Cullins has four other convictions for failing to register as a sex offender.

Darr describes Cullins as a 5’6″ black male weighing about 184 ponds. Cullins has a characteristic black mole between his eyebrows. The sheriff’s office says anyone who sees Cullins should not try to approach or apprehend him.

A Lexington man is behind bars after documents say he threatened to kill the driver of the vehicle he rode in, taking the wheel of the vehicle and causing their vehicle to crash.

Danny Hall, 27, asked a woman to take him home from a friend’s house on June 2nd, according to an arrest citation.

While on I-75 South, documents say Hall told the woman he was going to kill both of them. Additionally, the document says Hall took control of the vehicle, causing it to crash.

Hall is charged with second degree wanton endangerment.

An Oak Ridge man indicted on charges of sex crimes involving a girl younger than 13 years old that allegedly occurred between 2006 and 2011 posted a $150,000 bond Wednesday night and faces arraignment Monday in Roane County Criminal Court.

Ronald Burch Mashburn, 64, who lives in the Roane County section of Oak Ridge, was indicted Tuesday by the Roane County grand jury on four counts of child rape, one count of attempted rape and eight counts of aggravated sexual battery.

According to the indictments, the sex crimes occurred between July 18, 2006, and July 17, 2011. The victim was born in 2002, according to court records.

The allegations were investigated by an Oak Ridge Police Department detective, the Anderson County Children’s Advocacy Center and the state Department of Children’s Services, according to the indictment.

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says a 71-year-old man is behind bars on charges of aggravated child rape and aggravated sexual battery of a 2-year-old.

A woman reported to investigators she suspected David Lefler had been involved in sexual activity with her children at his home after seeing him, on several occasions, coming out of an area where the children were playing and zipping up his pants.

Investigators say the crime was captured on personal surveillance video inside the home on Tuesday and was reported to authorities the same day.

Deputies arrested Lefler on Wednesday and according to an affidavit, he told investigators that he “could not remember” if he had done “that” or not.

Lefler is being held on a $100,000 bond, the investigation is ongoing.

He’s scheduled to appear in Sullivan County General Sessions Court on July 5 at 9:00 a.m.

A man arrested in West Virginia on June 14 is facing sexual offense charges against a minor in New Hanover County.

William Lee Bayliss, 32, was arrested by the St. Albans Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Service without incident at a relative’s home.

Bayliss has been charged with first degree sexual exploitation of a minor and second degree sexual offense, according to the New Hanover County detention center site. He was booked under a $251,500 bond.

According to the SAPD, the charges stem from an incident in Carolina Beach that occurred on July 1, 2007, and the victim was a 17-year-old female.

The SAPD also said that Bayliss has been on the run since a warrant was issued in November 2013.
