Private Detective, Warrant Issued For Man Accused in Train Crash

A warrant has been issued for a man accused of releasing a hand brake on a train car that hit a moving train in Scott County earlier this month.

The Georgetown News Graphic reports investigators are looking for William Blevins.

Police believe the rail car came loose farther up the track before colliding with a Norfolk Southern train that was headed southbound. The car came off the tracks, taking out the crossing signal.

It happened Aug. 4 at a railroad crossing on East Main Street in Georgetown.

No one was hurt, but the engine was damaged. The train serves the local area and wasn’t carrying anything hazardous, however, Georgetown firefighters responded as a precaution.
