Private Detective: Man Arrested Could Be Connected to Multiple Clown Mask Robberies

A man arrested, accused of robbing a gas station Tuesday night may be connected to several other robberies, according to police.

Georgetown police say Shawntavis Williams, accused of robbing the Shell on South Broadway Tuesday night in a clown mask, could be connected to a series of clown mask robberies in Lexington.

A short time after Tuesday night’s hold up, officers pulled over a suspicious SUV and found several key pieces of evidence, they said.

A man wearing a clown mask robbed D20 Hobbies in August. Police say the robber never pulled out a gun, but implied he had a weapon before demanding money.

Investigators said they were looking to see if the procedure at the D20 hold-up was similar to three other robberies they believe to be connected: the Speedway on Beaumont Center back in August, a Cricket Wireless store on Versailles Road last Friday afternoon, and the Microtel on Buena Vista Drive less than 12 hours later.
