The Ghent City Clerk was arrested Friday on charges of theft by unlawful taking over $10,000.
A preliminary investigation indicates that Robbin Powell of Ghent, illegally wrote city checks to herself between July 2012 and December 18, 2014, according to officials.

Officials allege that the checks Powell wrote herself range in amount of $105,000-180,000.
Powell was arrested and lodged in the Carroll County Detention Center.
