Lexington police launched a massive manhunt along I-64 in eastern Fayette County after a man assaulted an officer and ran after a traffic stop Friday morning.
Police say the officer pulled over a car near the 83 mile marker around 7 a.m. Officials say when the officer discovered the suspect had outstanding warrants and tried to make an arrest, the man resisted and tired to take the officer’s weapon. Police say the suspect ran through a tree line and into a field.

Multiple units rushed to the scene. Police brought in a K9 unit and deployed a helicopter to search for the suspect, but they didn’t have any success. Officers gave up the search around 10 a.m.
Police say they found information in the car that they hope will lead them to the suspect.
