Private Detective: Man Accused of Crash That Killed Six in TN Faces Ky Charges

The man accused of driving high and killing half-a-dozen people on a Tennessee interstate will first face separate charges in Kentucky.

Benjamin Brewer was picked up outside a Hamburg parking lot in August. He’d been on the run for more than a month. He was wanted for a June crash on Interstate 75 outside of Chattanooga. The crash killed six people. According to police, Brewer was high on meth at the time of the crash.

Authorities tell LEX 18 that Brewer will not fight extradition, which means he’ll be going back to Tennessee. But he’ll first face charges of criminal mischief and trafficking a controlled substance in Kentucky. Those charges are not connected to the crash.

Brewer’s fiance’, Charity Dawn Pennington, was also arrested at the parking lot in Hamburg. She spoke to LEX 18 and told us “I didn’t know what in the world was going on. I just saw the vehicle in front of me come charging in the parking lot toward me, so I had no idea what was going on.”

Brewer will next be in court to face a grand jury.
