Private Detective: Second Case of Suspicious Behavior Towards Girl at Southern Middle School

According to a letter sent out to parents of Southern Middle School students, a man in a white van took pictures of female students as they were waiting at the bus stop Friday morning. Students said that the man had a beard and a cane. Police say that the man was gesturing at the girls to come to his vehicle.

The letter said that the students took down the license plate number and all of the information has been given to the Lexington Police Department.

Lexington Police say that they do know who drives that vehicle and they are now tracking the man down to see what his intentions were.

This is the second case of suspicious behavior experienced by Southern Middle School students this week.

In both instances, the students were traveling between school and home.

On Wednesday,a letter was sent home about a man in a white truck who slowed down and spoke to a Southern Middle student as she was walking in King Arthur Court. The student promptly ran away from the man. This started an investigation into what could be an attempted luring.

Officers had already increased patrols in the vicinity and will continue to do so.

The letter sent home wanted to remind parents to talk to their children about being cautious around strangers. Students are encouraged to walk in groups when walking to school or the bus stop.
