Drug Dog Sweep Yarmouth, MA Woman Arrested

Police arrested a West Yarmouth woman for trafficking in prescription narcotics Friday, Oct. 2, after using a K9 unit to search a package en route from Florida.

Alerted to a suspicious package addressed to Rosa Herrera, 32, officers with the YPD and the State Police Drug Unit used a trained dog to inspect it. The dog Koda indicated the presence of drugs, and police waited for Herrera to arrive at the post office to retrieve the package.

When she picked up the package and left the post office, police stopped Herrera, and searched the package. They say it contained an innocuous-looking vitamin container, in which they found 775 pills identified as 30-milligram oxycodone, an addictive opioid painkiller.
