Private Detective: Lexington Police Looking For Taser-Carrying Bank Robber

Lexington Police are looking for a taser-carrying bank robber who hit banks on Richmond Road twice.

Back in May, Crime Stoppers showed photos of a taser carrying bank robber.

“Even though the tellers complied with him he still tasered one of the tellers, “said Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department.

No one sent in any tips after the photos were aired. Six months later the same man hit up a different bank.

“We believe it’s the same guy, obviously being armed with a taser and two using the Richmond Rd. Corridor.  Either he’s a local to that area or he’s using the interstate to escape Lexington after he does these robberies,” said Thomas.

He didn’t use the taser the second time, just had it on him.

“He doesn’t seem to be thwarted by the fact that other people are in the bank, he simply goes in to commit these robberies and he’s going to leave as quickly as he came in,” said Thomas.

Police wonder if he’s an out-of-towner who gets into Lexington quickly on Richmond Road and then leaves to hit other places along I-75.

A reward is up for grabs if you turn him in. Call the Crime Stoppers tipline if you know anything (859) 253- 2020.

The organization has paid out more than $26,000 in rewards.
