Lexington Police are investigating after a gas station robbery overnight. It happened around 3 a.m. Friday morning at the Speedway on Alexandria Drive.
Police tell LEX 18 that it was an armed robbery, with the suspect aiming a handgun at the clerk and demanding cash.
The suspect is described as an African-American male standing around 5’8 and weighing 135 pounds. A Lexington Police Officer was patrolling the area and saw the suspect taking off from the store on foot.

The officer began chasing the man and noticed the suspect throw the gun.
K-9 units were brought out to track the man’s scent but the search was suspended unsuccessfully. No one was injured during the robbery.
Police say the man was wearing black sweat pants and a grey hoodie. If you have any information you are asked to contact police.
