Wrongful Death Man Accused of Killing Girlfriend Faces Judge

A man accused of killing his girlfriend in 2014 and then cutting up her body and dumping it in the Kentucky River went before a judge Thursday.

Police say that back in September 2014, Paris Charles killed 50-year-old Goldie Massey.

Investigators say that Massey’s arm was found on the river bank in Henry County and her torso washed up near the river in Jessamine County.

Detectives say that Massey’s DNA was found inside Charles’s home but a cell phone tower picked him up near the Fayette Madison line a few days after her murder. Detectives believe that is where he could have dumped some of the body parts.

Charles and his attorney are fighting those claims and the trial is set to go forward.

LEX 18 spoke with Massey’s son when Charles was first arrested. He said, “In my mind, I knew who did it. Paris Charles. Because that’s who she was with and that’s the only person she’d be around that’s capable of doing something that gruesome.”

Charles’s case is expected to last a few weeks.
