Private Detective: Lexington Police Looking For Man Who Broke Into Lexington Church

Police are looking for a man who broke into a Lexington church and stole the offerings collected earlier that day.

Surveillance cameras were rolling and footage shows the man breaking into Now Faith Worship Center just off Russell Cave Road.

The thief came in through a back door behind some curtains and then made his way across the sanctuary into the church office.

Surveillance video shows the man prying into one of the locked drawers. Police say he stole all of that morning’s collections.

“He was specifically doing this on a Sunday afternoon because he was looking for the church’s offerings,” said Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department.

Reverend Arlester Washington says that the money the man stole was money the church could have used to help people like him.

“All he had to do, is what he probably already had done, ask us, and we would have tried to help them,” said Washington.
