Private Detective: Michigan Fugitive Indicted on Rape and Kidnapping Charges

A man facing disturbing charges out of Michigan will now answer to several charges in Mount Sterling.

Ronald Triplett, a 67-year-old fugitive and member of the FBI’s most wanted list, will be arraigned for charges of rape and kidnapping in Mount Sterling.

The investigation in Kentucky started when police say a woman showed up to the hospital and said she had been kidnapped and raped. According to court documents, the victim says she was walking in Mount Sterling when Triplett held a gun to her head and abducted her.

She says her kidnapper took her to an undisclosed location and sexually assaulted her.

One week later, Mount Sterling Police notified authorities in Michigan that they believed the suspect was still in Kentucky. Triplett was taken into custody without incident and was extradited to Michigan to face similar charges from the past. He was then returned to Kentucky.

Mount Sterling Police say that while Triplett doesn’t appear to have a criminal history in Kentucky, he has an extensive violent criminal history in other states.

Triplett is charged with 1st degree rape, kidnapping, and 1st degree sodomy. He also faces charges of 1st degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, because detectives say he was carrying counterfeit money.

He will be arraigned on the Kentucky charges Monday.
