Private Detective: One Dead After Multiple Heroin Overdoses Reported in Several Counties

Police in Mount Sterling and Winchester are investigating after responding to multiple overdose cases overnight.

According to a Facebook post by the Mount Sterling Police Department, police are currently investigating 12 overdoses on heroin that occurred in the overnight hours of Thursday morning.

“This preliminarily appears to be from a very potent form of heroin. If you are a heroin addict be aware of this before using. Naturally, we would prefer you seek treatment as opposed to using but are also realistic enough to know that not all will. If you do wish help we have several hotlines available as well as other treatment options.”

Montgomery County Fire/EMS told LEX 18 that one of those overdoses was fatal.

Police in Winchester say that in a matter of hours, at least five people overdosed on heroin. This leads them to believe that a batch laced with Fentanyl or a very pure form of heroin was sold in the area.

Police are asking drug users and their families in our area to please be aware and to help them save lives by telling police information about where this heroin came from.

“”It means we can save lives if they give us information. They can use our anonymous tip line, don’t even give us their name, they can email us or have a friend do it. A parent can give us information,” said Winchester Police Chief David Palmer.

This follows two cases of multiple heroin overdoses in Cincinnati and West Virginia.
