Private Detective: Deputies Looking For Laurel Co. Men Who Resisted Arrest

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office announced that they are attempting to locate two suspects after one assaulted a deputy while resisting arrest before fleeing on foot Saturday morning.

They say that a deputy noticed two vehicles parked suspiciously behind a building near a business off West Cumberland Gap Parkway 10 miles south of London. He said that one vehicle was occupied by Tony T. Burks, and a passenger, Alisha Tapia-Cozar. He said that the second vehicle was occupied by James W. Edwards.

During the investigation, the deputy said he noticed Burks was in possession of a glass pipe. He then told Burks he was under arrest.

He said that Burks resisted arrest and struck the deputy in the side of his face, destroying his glasses and injuring him.
