Private Detective: Nicholasville Man Returns Purse with $8k Inside

A Nicholasville man is being called a good Samaritan after he returned a missing purse with a substantial amount of money inside.

On Wednesday, Nicholasville Police were called out to Ollie’s Bargain Outlet on a report of a stolen purse. When officers arrived, a woman told them that she had accidentally left her purse in the shopping cart as she loaded her bags. When she returned, just a few minutes later, the purse was gone.

The devasted woman told police that she had $8000 in cash in her purse and had been on her way to pay off a loan.

At that same time across town, at the police department in downtown Nicholasville, a man walked into the lobby of the police department to turn in a purse he had found at Ollie’s.

When the police clerk asked him who it belonged to, he responded, “I don’t know.  I didn’t open it.”

The officer at Ollie’s and the victim then drove to the police department to identify the purse. When the identification inside the purse matched the victim, the purse with ALL the money intact was returned to the victim. She tried to reward the man who found her purse, and he refused saying “I didn’t do this for a reward. Turning it in was the right thing to do.”

The man did not want his identity released.
