A public school employee has been fired in Magoffin County after being arrested on sex-related charges.
Superintendent Scot Helton told LEX 18 that Dennis Bays was let go after an investigation into allegations that he had inappropriate contact with a student and inappropriate message exchanges with her.
The arrest warrant states that the student told police that Bays had exposed himself to her 3-4 times. The citation also states that he rubbed his hand up and down her thigh and tried to put his hand between her legs.

Bays was a part-time bus monitor and custodian, according to Helton.
Helton told LEX 18 that 20-year-old Bays worked for the district for two years and that a background check was performed before he was hired.
“He was a good kid in school, I know him,” said Robert Gibson, a high school classmate of Bays. “I played football with him, but I never knew he would do something like this.”
According to the arrest warrant, Bays was charged with distribution of obscene matter to minors, 3rd-degree sexual abuse, and harassing communications.
