Private Detective: Lexington Church Burglarized Twice

Members of a Lexington church are making a plea to the community after losing thousands of dollars of belongings when the church was burglarized not once, but twice.

Members of the House of Prayer Church on the 500 block of East 7th Street told LEX 18 that they are planning to install a security system, but in the meantime, they’re asking people in the neighborhood to help keep an eye on the church.

The minister of music at the church, Stephanie Morton, said that the burglars hit the building sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning. On Friday morning, they discovered they’d been burglarized again. The thieves targeted air conditioning units, heaters, and music equipment like keyboards and part of a PA system.

Church members say that the building was also damaged.

They tell LEX 18 that the bill for replacing stolen items and repairs are being estimated at more than $10,000.

“Basically. they took everything that they didn’t take the night before,” said Morton.

They are asking that if you know anything about this crime, please call the police.

The church is accepting donations to help them replace the stolen equipment as well as make repairs to the building.

Donations can be made to the House of Prayer Church at 558 East 7th Street in Lexington. They can be dropped off on Sunday from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Wednesday from noon-1 p.m., or Thursday from 7:30 p.m.- 9 p.m.

You can also call Stephanie Morton at (859) 270-2885 to make a donation.
