Wrongful Death UPDATE Sarah Hart was Pregnant

In a tragic twist to an already stunning case, the state medical examiner said Friday a woman murdered Thursday along a Russell County road was pregnant.

The body of Sarah B. Hart, 31, of Jamestown was discovered around 12:15 p.m., about 30 yards off of US 127, where she had been running with her sister earlier that morning. Hart told her sister she wasn’t able to finish their run and would return to her car.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Christopher W. Allman, 28, of Jamestown is charged with murder in Hart’s death. According to an arrest citation from Kentucky State Police, Hart was strangled to death. While being interviewed, police say Allman admitted to attacking and killing Hart for the purpose of taking her money. The citation also says that Allman admitted to placing Hart’s body underneath bushes.

According to the coroner, Hart was 10-11 weeks pregnant and died as a result of asphyxiation due to strangulation. Additional charges against Allman, who is charged with murder, robbery, kidnapping and tampering with evidence, may be pursued pending the final autopsy results and presentation of the completed investigation to the Russell County grand jury.

Insurance Fraud Staged Traffic Accident in Indiana

HARTFORD CITY, Ind. — Felony insurance fraud charges have been filed against two people accused of staging a traffic accident in eastern Indiana that led to two women being flown by helicopter to hospitals.

Katie Rene Johnson, 19, of Hartford City, and Matthew L. Burkhart, 21, of Marion, also are charged with misdemeanor counts of false informing and criminal recklessness.

Authorities were called to the scene of a collision at about 11:30 p.m. June 4 and found two damaged vehicles at a rural intersection a few miles outside Hartford City, 50 miles south of Fort Wayne.

Johnson and another woman were “crying and complaining of pain,” according to a probable cause affidavit. They were flown to hospitals in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne for treatment of what an investigator later called “extremely minor injuries.”

Authorities became suspicious upon learning that the woman in the car with Johnson lives with Burkhart. An investigation also found that one car was determined to be stationary at the time of the crash, The Star Press of Muncie reported (http://tspne.ws/MteGkk).

A probable cause affidavit says Johnson told Blackford County sheriff’s investigators that the people involved agreed to stage the accident to collect insurance.

Johnson had said the other woman flown to the hospital was going about 40 mph when the crash occurred.

The other two people allegedly involved had not been charged as of Thursday.

Johnson was being held Thursday in the Blackford County jail on a $2,000 cash bond. Burkhart was being held on a $1,500 cash bond and is scheduled to make a court appearance Monday.

Missing Person Stephen Ivens Still Missing

Stephen Ivens of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has been missing since May 11, and his wife is now seeking help in finding him after authorities called off the formal search.

Ivens has been with the FBI for more than three years, and his wife noted that he had been receiving treatment for depression. “He just hadn’t been himself,” she told reporters, and Ivens left his home on May 11 with his keys and standard FBI-issued pistol.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Police officials working with several other agencies, initially launched an intense search for Ivens, but after coming up empty, with no leads coming in, the search was called off. That’s when Ivens’ wife, Thea, decided to launch her own investigation and searches, with the next search scheduled for tomorrow.

“We can’t do it alone,” she said during a press conference. “My understanding is that if there are no leads, there are no searches. Lately there have not been any tips or leads.”

Thea has established several online sites, including a Facebook page, in order to keep the public aware of Stephen’s disappearance. She is hopeful that someone will recognize him and be able to provide the much-needed information to bring him home.

“I wanted the community to have awareness that my husband is still missing,” Thea told the City News Service. “His birthday will be tomorrow. I somehow want him to see my message that we miss him and love him,” she said on Wednesday.

Although the FBI and police have called off the searches, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller told the Burbank Leader that the investigation would continue “until Stephen Ivens is found. Many leads were generated based on the initial media coverage, as well as by fliers handed out to hikers and the FBI’s publicity efforts.”

“Steve is more than just a missing person,” Thea wrote in a public letter. “He is a father, husband, a son, a brother, a nephew, a friend and a colleague in this community.”

Anyone with information is encouraged to call (818) 238-3000 or (310) 477-6565.

Hart’s body was discovered at about 12:15 p.m. about 30 yards off of US 127, where she had been running with her sister earlier that morning. Drug Dog Sweep 231 lbs of Marijuana at Fast Food Parking Lot

A drug-sniffing dog helped federal agents uncover more than 231 pounds of marijuana after the dog’s handler inadvertently parked near a car carrying the pot in a San Clemente fast-food parking lot, the U.S. Border Patrol announced Thursday.

The Border Patrol said the chance encounter was one of three big busts federal agents made in Southern California this month, helping agents uncover drugs with a street value that the agency estimated at $2.4 million.

http://liarcatchers.com/drugdogsweeps.html

On June 8, a Border Patrol agent parked his car at a fast-food restaurant and, after he got out of the car, his dog led him to the trunk of a nearby 2011 Toyota Camry. A search of the car turned up nine bundles of pot, weighing 231.28 pounds, with a street value of about $115,000, the agency said.

Then, on Monday, agents at the San Onofre checkpoint along Interstate 5 found 12 pounds of methamphetamine —- with an estimated street value of $240,000 —- when they stopped a car occupied by two men whose demeanor made agents “suspicious,” the agency said. The two men, ages 22 and 21, were U.S. citizens, the agency said.

Next, just after midnight on Tuesday, farther up the coast in Ventura County, federal, state and local authorities arrested 20 people and confiscated more than 4,000 pounds of marijuana after a panga boat was spotted landing on the beach, the Border Patrol reported.
