Private Detective: Armed and Dangerous Man Found

Convicted rapist and arsonist, Stephen Halsey, 57, was found in the woods after a search by police, he had been on the run for almost a month.

On Monday, Nelson County Deputies said Halsey was spotted near a barn on Nat Rogers Road, but once again got away.

“We have cameras up here all through out the property, but so far we haven’t seen him on this property,” said Mike Bullock.

Bullock’s 100 acre property sits off Ice Town Road, close to where investigators said Halsey was caught on a trail cam on December 30th.

“Last time he was out of jail, he did break into this cabin and helped himself to some food and spent the night, warm place to sleep. But we were kind of upset, because he broke the window out,” said Bullock.

For Bullock, it’s like deja vu.

“We were kind of discouraged when we heard he was getting out. Figured he might be up the same stuff that he was before and we were right, that’s what he is doing,” said Bullock.

Police said Halsey skipped out of a halfway house late last month and has been on the run ever since. According to court records, Halsey has a violent criminal past that dates back to 1986, which includes charges of rape and arson. Court records show he’s been involved with cases in Nelson, Fayette, Marion, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan and Rowan Counties.

Fraud Investigation Berea Police Looking For Woman Spending Counterfeit Money

Berea Police are busy tracking down who is responsible for using counterfeit money at several locations in the town.

They are starting their investigation looking at one woman who is suspected of using a counterfeit one-hundred dollar bill.

Sgt. Jake Reed with the Berea Police Department says that there has been a string of counterfeit bills used at different businesses in different parts of town.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“They were passed at businesses while they were busy and the clerks just took the money and they didn’t realize it at the time,” Sgt. Reed told LEX 18’s Patrick Price.

Sgt. Reed is asking for the public’s help to find any information behind the ones responsible for passing them.

“So it’s possible that it could be one person or a group of people passing all of these bills or it’s possible it could be several different people that aren’t connected,” said Sgt. Reed.

He’s warning businesses and individuals to check their bills and call police if the bill doesn’t look or feel right.

If you recognize the woman in the surveillance video, call police.

Private Detective: Woman Accused of Trafficking Relative Has Case Waived to Grand Jury

A Lexington woman accused of trafficking a 12-year-old family member to her boyfriend has had her case waived to a grand jury. Information revealed in court shows that this isn’t the first time the woman has been in trouble with the law.

33-year-old Stephanie Watts and 34-year-old Juan Hernandez-Plata were taken into police custody on Christmas Eve. Tuesday, both suspects faced a judge where Judge Kim Wilke found probable cause to send their cases to a grand jury.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

The reported victim in this case told investigators at the Lexington Children’s Advocacy Center on December 4, that Watts demanded she have sex with her 34-year-old boyfriend at the couple’s home on Meadow Lane.

The child says Watts removed her clothing, then left the room. That’s when the victim says Hernandez-Plata sodomized her. The next day, the victim says Watts gave her $80 and told her not to tell anyone what had happened.

Judge Wilke learned that Watts was convicted of incest in Carroll County in June of 2013. As a result, Watts’ bond was raised to $50,000.

Police interviewed family members who were living with Watts and her boyfriend, and say the child came to them seeking help.

The aunt of the now 13 year-old says one night after the incident, Watts got drunk and confessed what happened to the child.

Judge Wilke also increased Hernandez-Plata’s bond to $100,000 cash due to concern over past aliases.

Private Detective: Search Continues For Armed and Dangerous Man

The search for a convicted rapist and arsonist is heating up, as the temperature drop this week. Stephen Halsey, 57, was spotted on Monday in Nelson County, and police said the armed and dangerous man could get desperate as the cold sets in.

On Monday, Nelson County Deputies said Halsey was spotted near a barn on Nat Rogers Road, but once again got away.

“We have cameras up here all through out the property, but so far we haven’t seen him on this property,” said Mike Bullock.

According to court records, Halsey has a violent criminal past that dates back to 1986, which includes charges of rape and arson. Court records show he’s been involved with cases in Nelson, Fayette, Marion, Menifee, Montgomery, Morgan and Rowan Counties.

“You can’t portray that he’s not dangerous. He’s got a lengthy criminal history. He shouldn’t be out,” said Chief Deputy Ramon Pineiroa, with the Nelson County Sheriff’s Department.

Until he’s back behind bars, people like Bullock worry of what will happen next.

“Every man has his own mind, but some of them you have to question,” said Bullock.

Investigators said they think Halsey is looking for food and shelter in Nelson County. Police said Halsey is around 5’8″ and 180 pounds, he has brown hair and green eyes. If you see him, you’re asked to call law enforcement right away.
