Lexington police are looking for what they think is a serial cigarette thief.

Surveillance video shows the suspect is covered head to toe and pretty confident.

“If you notice in the video, the lights are on.  He’s doing this with lights on which tells us he’s extremely motivated.  He’s done this and gotten away with it and he’s getting more confident.  That’s a good thing for us because it means he’s gonna be caught soon,” said Detective Mark Thomas with the Lexington Police Department.

Police have linked him to at least two cases of stealing cigarettes from businesses. They believe that he is probably behind more.

“He’s going up to the window and using some kind of tool to pull the glazing from the window.  This isn’t the typical “take a rock and throw it at the window” type of guy,” said Thomas.

The suspect always brings a duffel bag or a garbage bag and fills it with cigarettes.

The cost of the stolen goods adds up quick.

“You can imagine at $30 a carton, this adds up pretty quick. We’re looking at $3000-5000,” said Thomas.

Police believe that the man behind the mask is selling the cigarettes he steals at a discount.

“You can keep buying cigs from this guy at 1/2 price or you can turn him in for $1000,” said Thomas.

One woman claims that her ex-boyfriend was a paid hitman who murdered several people, including one woman in Northern Kentucky. These new accusations have detectives chasing new leads in cold cases.

It was May 2013 when 18-year-old Michaela Briede was shot to death inside a Kenton County apartment. The family of the college student is still looking for answers.

“We won’t get to see her graduate. We will never get to hold her babies that she wanted. It’s just, we’ll never get to share our life with her,” said Barbara Briede, Michaela’s grandmother.

Court documents reveal that an informant is now claiming her ex-boyfriend, a paid hitman, committed the murder during a home invasion.

The same woman also told investigators that they were in Ohio when she watched her boyfriend gun down 22-year-old Brittany Stykes in August 2013. She said that her ex acted like a police officer, using a flashing blue light, and got the pregnant mother to pull over. He then shot her.

“I know my daughter would not have stopped for anybody except for a police car or except for someone she knew,” said Brittany’s mother Mary Dodson.

An affidavit reveals that investigators searched the Falmouth home of the alleged hitman last week. He is currently in jail on drugs charges.

According to the paperwork, several items including cell phones and a computer were confiscated in connection to the Stykes case.

The woman also told police that her ex boyfriend murdered two more people in Grant County. She said that he killed a man in Crittenden and then put the body in a wood chipper. She also said that he buried one of his victims in the Williamstown Cemetery.

The cemetery has been searched with cadaver dogs but no body has been recovered.

The investigation continues.

A 52-year-old man identified as a former teacher has been arrested by Douglas County investigators on suspicion of child sex crimes, including pornography.

Jeffrey Joseph Falk was arrested Sept. 21 on multiple felony charges, including two counts sexual exploitation of a child, three counts of sex exploitation of a child-video, stalking and burglary, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

During the initial investigation, authorities located a “second victim” and Falk was arrested again Sunday, according to Sgt. Lori Bronner, a sheriff’s spokeswoman.

In the second case, Falk was charged with exploitation of a child, sex exploitation of a child-video, and stalking — all felony charges.

KMGH Channel 7 identified Falk on Monday as a former teacher at ThunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch.

On Monday night, the school’s principal sent a letter to parents about Falk’s arrest.

“I can assure you that ThunderRidge High School and Douglas County School District take this matter extremely seriously and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement,” the letter from Principal Chris Tabeling said in part.

The website www.ratemyteachers.com identified Jeff Falk as a Thunderridge (sic) High School math teacher. The most recent review, which was favorable, was posted in 2011.

Each count involving child pornography includes more than 20 items related to that charge. Falk also is charged with either selling, or attempting to sell or publish, exploitative images of a child or children, according to court records.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Frederick Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 13-year-old girl.

Police say they received a missing person report for 13-year-old Gabrielle Alexis Goode on Monday afternoon.

Goode was last seen in the 1100 block of Keswick Place in Frederick on Sunday.

The teenager is described as a black female with brown eyes and black hair. She is 5’7” tall and weighs 125 pounds.

A former band assistant with Oldham County Public Schools accused of having an inappropriate relationship with one of his students appeared before a judge Monday.

Kyle McCoy pleaded not guilty to multiple charges including rape and sexual abuse. McCoy was a band assistant at North Oldham High School but he is no longer affiliated with the school, WAVE 3 News reports.

McCoy was released to home incarceration and ordered to have no contact with the victim, her family or anyone under the age of 18.

He is scheduled to appear in court again in November.

Officials arrested and booked a registered sex offender on child molestation charges following an incident in Jurupa Valley Saturday.

Jurupa Valley officers responded to a child annoyance call from a retail store in the 7800 block of Limonite Avenue at 12:30 p.m. and called in investigators.

Investigators determined that the suspect had been following the child, under the age of 10, in the store and inappropriately touched the child when the parent turned away.

The suspect disabled his parole-issued GPS monitoring ankle bracelet, but was located by investigators in the 6500 block of Archer Street later that day.

The alleged offender, identified as Orion Charles Hitches, 32, was arrested and booked for three counts of child molestation-related charges. His bail was set at $1,000,000.

Investigators said Hitches violated his parole status and his terms as a registered sex offender.

Police in York County are on the lookout for a woman whose family has not seen nor heard from her in nearly two weeks.

Family members of 22-yr old Brianna Bathavic contacted Fairview Township Police last week on September 24th, because they were concerned for her well-being.

Her mother said Brianna left their home on Big Spring Road, Etters, on Saturday, September 19th to go bowling with some friends. That was the last time they heard from her.

Police have spoken to friends of Brianna and they haven’t heard from her either. Ms Bathavic has been entered into a national law enforcement database as a missing person. If anyone has information on her whereabouts is urged to contact the Fairview Township Police Department at (717) 901-5267.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is searching for a missing person.

Christopher Michael Felder was last seen leaving his residence on Sept. 22, Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said. The 54-year-old Felder was driving his white Ford Ranger truck, with South Carolina tag ELI 967, and hasn’t contacted family or friends in the past week, which Lott said is uncharacteristic.

According to Lott, Felder’s a 5-foot-10, 180-pound white man with gray, shoulder-length hair and green eyes whoi suffers from a medical condition.

An “extensive investigation” is underway by Middletown police to find a critical missing person.

Lindsay Bogan, 30, a white female, was last seen Sept. 13 by her boyfriend Eric Sexton. Sexton reported her missing to Middletown police Sept. 14.

She was last seen by Sexton getting into a silver Dodge Durango on Central Avenue at Baltimore Street, according to Middletown police. Police say the woman is homeless.

Friends and family have not seen or heard from her since Sept. 13, according to police.

Investigators have pursued several leads with no success and are asking for assistance from the public, police said. If anyone has information, contact Middletown Police at 513-425-7701.

The Sheriff’s Department in Pulaski County said that a body found Wednesday, September 23, has been identified by the coroner as 56-year-old Edward Vanwormer.

Vanwormer had been reported missing September 15. His body was found outside of his Pulaski County home.

Vanwormer’s son, Jedediah, and his son’s girlfriend, Amanda Braddock,were arrested in North Carolina on charges of tampering with evidence and are expected to be extradited to Pulaski County.
