Wrongful Death Whitley Co. Stabbing Victim Dies

A stabbing victim in Whitley County has died after being discharged from the hospital.

Last week, Sidney Satterfield was found at his home on George Hayes Road with stab wounds to his face, head and chest. Officers later found his stepson, William Keisling, passed out and covered in blood on South Second Street. He’s charged with attempted murder, but police say they’re working to upgrade those charges to murder.

Police tell LEX 18 that Satterfield was released from the hospital around 2 a.m. then later found dead, presumably as a result of a lung injury he’d received in the attack.

Police say Satterfield was released from UK Hospital to take care of funeral arrangements for his son who had died of a suspected drug overdose shortly after his father’s stabbing.

Wrongful Death KY Woman Found Guilty Of Poisoning Son WIth Salt

Lacey Spears, the Kentucky woman who authorities say force-fed her 5-year-old son salt through a stomach tube and abused the attention that her sick child brought her, has been found guilty of murder in the child’s death.

A jury handed down the verdict after three days of deliberations.

Spears, who was living with her son in Chesnut Ridge at the time of his death, induced brain swelling by feeding Garnett heavy concentrations of sodium through a stomach tube. Jurors saw a video that showed Spears taking her son into a hospital bathroom with a connector tube and the boy suffering afterward.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

A feeding bag found in Spears’ apartment had the equivalent of 69 McDonald’s salt packets in it, a forensic toxicologist testified.

“The motive is bizarre, the notion is scary, but it exists … She apparently craved the attention of her family, her friends, her co-workers and most particularly the medical profession,” Assistant District Attorney Patricia Murphy said in closing arguments Thursday.

Defense attorneys had described the Scottsvillle woman as a caring mother who was devastated by her son’s death. He suggested the hospital was to blame — an assertion Murphy called “just ridiculous” — and tried to cast doubt on the medical examiner’s finding that high salt was the cause of death.

Private Detective: Electronic Vapor Store Burglarized

The electronic vapor store off Alexandria Drive has only been opened for 6 months, and Saturday night it was the target of a burglary.

When police arrived at Major Vapor around 2 a.m., they didn’t find much. It wasn’t until the owner showed up later that he discovered his business had been burglarized and it was all caught on camera.

“They basically got everything in this case here; all of our different batteries, tanks, chargers all that kind of stuff,” said owner Kevin Burke.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

But the burglars didn’t realize they were being watched. After going over the surveillance video, store owner Kevin Burke says he recognizes the two young men who had been in the store earlier.

“They had seen some of the hardware we had here before. They just wanted an e-cigarette, we can’t sell it to them if they’re underage so I guess they decided to steal it instead,” said Burke.

Video surveillance shows the two using a brick to shatter the front door. Then, the two men come back to the store a second time to get more items. By the time police got there, it was too late.

Burke says the burglars got away with about $500 worth of merchandise, but the damage they left behind was much more.

“With the way the weather has been lately, and business has been slow. And people who do this kind of stuff don’t really realize who they’re hurting when they do stuff like this,” he said.

Police have not identified the men in the video, but if you know anything about the case give them a call.
