Pedophile Tracking Cayuga County, NY Man Admits Trying to Lure Children

A Cayuga County man admitted today that tried to lure what he thought were children into sex through Craigslist.

Robert J. Stachura, 45, pleaded guilty in federal court to using the Internet to try to coerce a child into sexual activity. He was arrested last year after he tried to meet a 15-year-old and a 13-year-old in a public park for sex.

Stachura faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life behind bars, Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Fletcher said. U.S. District Judge David Hurd scheduled sentencing for June 4.

Police discovered Stachura through advertisements he placed on Craigslist in which he stated that he was seeking sexual contact with minors. He posted lewd images with the advertisements.

In May, a Cayuga County sheriff’s detective engaged Stachura in online conversation, posing as a 15-year-old boy, according to court records. Stachura requested to meet him, and asked him to bring a 13-year-old friend to meet in person for a sexual encounter, court papers said.

Stachura was arrested when he arrived at the meeting spot, in a public park in Auburn.
An investigation and interview with Stachura revealed that there was child pornography on his computer, court papers said.

Arson Investigation Whitley County Hotel Fire

Crews were called out to reports of a hotel on fire Saturday in Whitley County. Fire investigators say the early morning blaze may have been intentionally set.

Just after 6 a.m., 50 firefighters and a total of 5 fire departments rushed to the Mountain View Lodge off Cumberland Falls Highway. When they arrived on scene, firefighters say they saw smoke coming from different ends of the building. The fire was located in one of the hotel’s 300 rooms.

http://liarcatchers.com/arson_investigation.html

Corbin police detectives say they were immediately suspicious about the fire because the hotel has been closed for several years and the electricity shut off.

“No body was supposed to be in here we found some evidence that people had been staying here… Mail and clothing things like that,” said William Rose from the Corbin Police Dept.

Detectives say there was no one else on the scene when they arrived, and so far they haven’t pin-pointed a cause.

“Don’t know yet how it started, but the fire was mainly in one room and spread out into the hallway,” said Rose.

Corbin firefighters say they needed help with the building because the hydrants up on the hill here weren’t supplying enough water. Firefighters from West Knox, Woodbine, Keavy and Oak Grove also responded to the blaze.

Although no one was staying in the hotel, officials say it could have been a lot worse.

“It could have been a total loss, the fire department got here quick and was able to get it under control pretty fast,” said Rose.

According to a sign on the front of the building – the hotel was shut down by the franklin circuit court for not paying taxes.

Fraud Investigation Phone Scam Takes New Twist

Lexington Police alerted the public this week about a phone scam that has taken a new twist.

Authorities say the scam originally involved calls that would come from a foreign sounding man demanding cash for a kidnapped child, complete with a crying child in the background. These calls have taken a new twist with demands for money for a spouse rather than a child. The latest case involves a doctor at Bluegrass Orthopedics.  The caller claimed to have the doctor’s wife.  Police say the doctor wasn’t fooled and while on the phone with the man had a staff member call to verify his wife was safe.

Authorities say if you happen to receive one of these calls, get as much information as you can and then call police.
