Private Detective: Two Injured in Madison County Home Invasion

Investigators say what started as a simple knock on the door, turned into a violent robbery in Madison County and the robbers are still at large.

Neighbors describe the Quail West neighborhood as a quaint and quiet area tucked away in Northern Madison County. That’s why they were surprised to hear police sirens after several robbers struck this home Friday evening.

Investigators say it all unfolded around 9:00 p.m. at night. They say several men knocked on the door of a house in the neighborhood and attacked two men with whom they were acquainted inside the home.

“You always make sure that you know who’s at your door and it’s a lot easier to give help through the door,” says Joe Mras, a neighbor of the victims.

Both men went to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, but police say the men responsible are still on the loose. Investigators believe this was not a random act and say it appears to have been a targeted robbery.

Private Detective: Human Remains Found in Anderson County

The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating human remains found this weekend in a heavily wooded area several miles west of Lawrenceburg.

The Anderson County coroner tells WKYT that on Saturday, two deer hunters found the contents of a man’s wallet in a heavily wooded area off New Liberty Road about 15 miles west of Lawrenceburg.

Deputies were called out to the area and found more skeletonized human remains. The bones were found in the pasture land, as well as the heavily wooded area.

The coroner said investigators recovered 60 bags of evidence. All 60 bags were taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort.

We’re told that investigators will try to identify the body by using dental records. Investigators will also look for evidence of trauma.

Investigators have not yet determined how long the bones have been there or how the person died.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“On Monday, the remains will be examined for the evidence of foul play to see if there was any trauma, a gunshot wound or penetrating stab wound or any evidence of blunt trauma which would help explain cause of death,” said Anderson County Coroner Mark Tussey.

At this time, officials are not sure if the body found was that of a man or woman.

Investigators are also not sure if the wallet that was found belonged to that victim.

Private Detective: 2013 Crime Statistics

The FBI released Crime in the United States, 2013 today, which shows that the estimated number of violent crimes in 2013 decreased 4.4 percent when compared with 2012 figures, and the estimated number of property crimes decreased 4.1 percent. There were an estimated 1,163,146 violent crimes reported to law enforcement last year, along with an estimated 8,632,512 property crimes.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

The crime statistics report, issued by the Bureau’s Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) Program, contains voluntarily submitted data from 18,415 city, county, state, tribal, campus, and federal law enforcement agencies on specific crimes brought to their attention. They include the violent crimes of murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault, and the property crimes of burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson.

Property Crime Graphic from Crime in the U.S., 2013 Report
The downward progression in the number of reported property crimes over the past five years, according to Crime in the United States, 2013.

The primary goals of Crime in the United States? To assess and monitor the nature and type of crime in the nation and to generate reliable information for use in law enforcement administration, operations, and management. The data has also been used by criminologists, sociologists, legislators, municipal planners, the media, and other students of criminal justice for research and planning purposes.

But a word of caution: Don’t draw conclusions from the report by making direct comparisons between cities. Valid assessments are only possible with an understanding of various factors affecting each jurisdiction. For more details, read the UCR Statistics: Their Proper Use section.

Beginning in 2013, the UCR Program began collecting rape data under a revised definition. However, not all law enforcement agencies have been able to convert their records management systems to reflect the new definition yet, so this year’s report includes data collected under the previous (or legacy) definition as well as the revised definition. Footnotes for tables in the report indicate which definition of rape is being used. For more information, read the report’s Rape Addendum.

Here are some quick highlights from Crime in the United States, 2013:

  • During 2013, law enforcement made an estimated 11,302,102 arrests (including 480,360 for violent crimes and 1,559,284 for property crimes). The highest number of arrests were for drug abuse violations (estimated at 1,501,043), larceny-theft (estimated at 1,231,580), and driving under the influence (estimated at 1,166,824).
  • There were an estimated 14,196 murders last year.
  • Aggravated assaults (an estimated 724,149 last year) accounted for the largest percentage of violent crimes reported to law enforcement—62.3 percent.
  • Firearms were used in 69 percent of the nation’s murders, 40 percent of robberies, and 21.6 percent of aggravated assaults (weapons data is not collected on rape incidents).
  • There were an estimated 79,770 rapes (legacy definition) reported to law enforcement.
  • Victims of burglary offenses suffered an estimated $4.5 billion in property losses, and burglaries of residential properties accounted for 74 percent of the total reported.
  • Larceny-thefts accounted for the largest percentage of property crimes reported to law enforcement—69.6 percent. (The average value of property taken during larceny-thefts was $1,259.)
  • During 2013, an estimated 699,594 motor vehicles were reported stolen, and 73.9 percent of those were cars. (Other types of stolen vehicles included trucks, sport utility vehicles, buses, motorcycles, motor scooters, all-terrain vehicles, and snowmobiles).

UCR publications scheduled for release within the next couple of months include Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted, 2013; Hate Crimes Statistics, 2013; and National Incident-Based Reporting System, 2013.

Pedophile Tracking Sex Offender Arrested in Kirksville, MO Faces Felony Enticement

Jeremy “Brett” Brady,32, of Newark, Mo. is being charged with attempted enticement of a child, and is being held on a $150,000 cash only bond.

Child enticement is a felony, punishable by five to 30 years’ imprisonment.

Brady was arrested Saturday in Kirksville as part of a sting operation put on by the Kirksville Police Department.

In August of 2014 the Kirksville Regional Computer Crimes Unit (KRCCU) began an investigation into the area Registered Sex Offenders who had online social media profiles.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

By law Sex Offenders have to register all of their online social media websites/profiles with their local law enforcement, and during the course of KRCCU’s investigation they identified Brady as having an online profile which was not registered.

The KRCCU was able to establish contact Brady using an undercover persona of a 13-year-old female and a conversation then ensued between the sex offender and the undercover detective.

According to authorities, Brady allegedly sent messages about wanting to engage in a sexual relationship with the 13-year-old female, and he is also suspected of sending nude images of himself to the female, and requesting nude images of the girl in return.

Brady then made arrangements to meet the 13-year-old female in a local Kirksville parking lot Saturday to engage in sexual activity in the back of his van.

The KRCCU along with officers from the Kirksville Police Department were on scene Brady arrived and he was subsequently placed under arrest.

Brady is currently being held at the Adair County Sheriff’s office.
