Private Detective: Confessed Drug Addict Calls 911 and Turns Self In

People call 911 for many reasons. But when one Anderson County man dialed for help, his request was a little odd.

It’s not everyday someone calls 911 and says, “Hey, can you take me to jail.”

That’s exactly what Justin Ransdell did.

“I want to do the right thing in life,” Ransdell said.

So on Halloween, the confessed drug addict says he tried to right some wrongs.

The 22-year-old, already given a break by a judge for other drug convictions, dialed 911 asking for a ride to jail.

“I think it was a very good decision on my part to call and turn myself in, because me out there, me on the streets doing what I do best, messing thing up, getting high… I would have caught another charge,” Ransdell said.

Ransdell admits to doing meth last Thursday. But while he says he’s ready to face the consequences of breaking the rules of his earlier release, Ransdell doesn’t think jail is the best option for him.

“I’m sitting back here listening to people talk about getting high, how to get high, new ways to get high. I don’t need that,” he said.

He wants to go to rehab, instead. He’s been there once before this time last year, but claims now he’s ready to change.

“I know I need help, I got a drug problem,” Ransdell said.

Ransdell faces a judge Nov. 25 when he’ll find out if extended jail time is in his future for violating the terms of his release.

Wrongful Death Body Of Hollywood Executive Found After 2 Years

The remains of Gavin Smith, a 20th Century Fox executive missing since 2012, were found and identified in California, authorities told ABC News.

Hikers discovered Smith’s remains Sunday in a rural area of Palmdale, northern Los Angeles County, the County Sheriff’s Office said. The cause of death isn’t known, as the results of an autopsy have not been finalized.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, which is handling the investigation, plans to release additional information on the case this morning.

Smith, 57, a married father of three, disappeared in early May 2012 after leaving a friend’s home in Ventura County’s Oak Park neighborhood. The night he went missing, authorities say, Smith drove off, without a word, and never came back. The disappearance was originally considered a missing person’s case, but reclassified as a homicide in February 2013 after Smith’s car, a black 2000 Mercedes-Benz 420E, was found at a storage facility.

No one has been charged with Smith’s death.

Smith played basketball at UCLA in the mid-1970s under legendary coach John Wooden. He later spent 18 years in the movie industry, helping to distribute movies such as “Avatar” and the “Star Wars” trilogy.

Private Detective: Employees of Estill Co. Business Tied Up During Robbery

Two employees at the Cash in a Dash had a frightening experience when the Estill County business was robbed at gunpoint.

Wednesday morning, police say a man entered the cash advance business on Richmond Road in Irvine. He initially said he wanted to sell some jewelry but he wasn’t a customer for long.

“The customer ended up turning into basically a robbery suspect that we’re looking for,” says Trooper Purdy of the Kentucky State Police.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

The owner says it was quite unexpected for the two women working inside.

“He did look a little strange, a little nervous maybe, but he sat down and had talked to them and then all of a sudden he said he needed some money to get out out of here like he was from out of town,” says Judi Strong.

The man pulled out a gun and forced the two employees to the floor. The owner says the suspect then tied the two victims’ arms behind their back.

Police say the man got away with an undetermined amount of cash and a purse. After he left, Strong says one woman was able to get free and hit the panic button which alerted police.

They are looking for a white man about 6-feet-tall. At the time of the robbery he was wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt and a ball cap.

If you have information you are asked to call Kentucky State Police.

Wrongful Death Man Found Shot in a Floyd County Abandoned Building

A man was found shot to death at an abandoned building in Floyd County Wednesday afternoon.

Neighbors say they heard several shots fired before finding a man dead in the parking lot of an abandoned doctor’s office on Route 321 just outside Prestonsburg.

The Floyd County coroner said the 34-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene with gun shot wounds. He has not been identified pending family notification. An autopsy has been scheduled for Thursday, the coroner said.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

A man who lives right next door tells LEX 18 no one was in the parking lot, but when he returned just five minutes later, the man was already dead.

State police have not said if anyone had been arrested or what might have lead to the shooting. Police shut down Route 321 where the shooting took place for several hours as they investigated.

“My daughter called me and said ‘dad, there’s somebody been shot or something. I heard about three gun shots,’ and she said ‘I looked out the door and there was two or three people standing out there, around him.’ So I came home and he was already covered up by a sheet by, then,” said neighbor Roy Compton.

Police say they are treating the case as a homicide.
