Wrongful Death Man Accused of Raping and Strangling Pregnant Woman Gets Life

The man accused of raping and strangling a pregnant Russell County jogger in 2012 was sentenced to life without parole.

Christopher Allman – who pleaded guilty to charges of murder, fetal homicide, kidnapping, robbery, evidence tampering, rape and persistent felony offender – was formally sentenced Tuesday morning.

Authorities say Allman dragged 31-year-old Sarah Hart into a ravine the morning of June 14, 2012, while she was out for a jog with her sister, then raped and strangled her.

Officials say Hart had decided to go back to the car when Allman encountered her. Police say he left her for dead and walked to work, where he was later found and arrested.

Hart’s body was found in the ravine later.

After the formal sentencing on Tuesday, Hart’s family said they’re not focusing on Allman; rather the legacy of their daughter.

Missing Person Body Found in Wayne County ID’d as Pulaski County Woman

The body found in Wayne County last month identified as that of a missing Pulaski County woman is believed to have been stored in a freezer for more than two years while the victim’s son collected her social security benefits.

Officials say the body identified as that of 96-year-old Faye B. Whiteford had been kept inside a freezer from 2011 until late 2013 before it was taken to the home in Wayne County where it was found on April 23.

liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

According to officials, the woman’s son, Jon Whiteford, continued drawing his mother’s social security and retirement benefits after her natural death sometime in the spring of 2011. The body remained in a freezer at the family’s home on Maggie Lane in Pulaski County until Jon was forced to move out of the home some time around Christmas of 2013. He rented a home on Brammer Hill Ridge Road in Wayne County, to where he took his mother’s remains, officials said. Whiteford’s body was found in a tied up tarp partially covered with a wooden box in the front yard of the home.

The residence is an older home and appeared to be in need of substantial repair before occupancy, officials said. With the very cold winter in the area, the remains likely remained frozen until the spring of 2014.

Investigators found out in March Jon was not living at that home in Wayne County, but rather was still in Pulaski County, living just a house down from his own at a friend’s home on Maggie Lane. Officials say when a Pulaski County Sheriff’s deputy approached the home on March 29 to speak with Jon about the possible social security fraud, he turned a handgun on himself and committed suicide.

The owners of the property live in Lexington and had given Jon a key to the home to care for the residence.

Officials say Jon made a visit to the local social security office on March 6 to apply for his own benefits and many questions about his mother’s status remained answered – officials say he confirmed his mother was dead, but refused to tell investigator who interviewed him at the time how or when she died, or the location of her body.

Family friends and acquaintances told investigators Whiteford had been bedfast in their home on Maggie Lane for several years, and that her son Jon was her primary caregiver and was her power of attorney on record, therefore giving him access to all her finances.

The investigation began in February 2014 when the Social Security Administration noted that Whiteford had not made a medical claim of any type in about three years. The lack of medical billing to a 96-year-old flagged in the system for a welfare check on her condition and to verify if she may be deceased.

Since the person responsible for this heinous act is now deceased, no charges will be pursued.

There are still many unanswered questions in this investigation and detectives would like to speak with anyone who may have any information.

Missing Person Colorado Woman Survived 6 Days in Wrecked Car

Kristin Hopkins wrote pleas for help on a red-and-white umbrella that she managed to push through a broken window of her crashed car and open, hoping to attract the attention of drivers on a scenic highway above.

Days later, someone spotted the flipped car of the 43-year-old single mother of four children about 80 feet down an embankment in a central Colorado aspen grove.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Authorities say at least one motorist hiked down from Red Hill Pass on U.S. Highway 285 and alerted authorities on Sunday that there was a body inside the car. Rescuers found Hopkins alive, conscious and coherent — but critically injured and extremely dehydrated.

Hopkins was flown by helicopter to St. Anthony Hospital in suburban Denver, Park County undersheriff Monte Gore said. She was in critical condition Monday, said hospital spokeswoman Loralee Sturm. Hopkins’ family issued a statement saying she will lose both her feet because of injuries sustained in the crash and is expected to survive.

Hopkins drove off the roadway near the old mining town of Fairplay sometime after she was last seen on April 27. The accident occurred beneath a spot overlooking the sprawling ranchlands and surrounding mountains of Colorado’s South Park area.

Her 2009 Chevrolet Malibu struck multiple trees and rolled several times before landing on its top.

Hopkins had been entered into a statewide police database as a missing person. But since she is an adult and there were no indications of foul play, there was no active search for her.

When rescuers reached the car Sunday, firefighter Jim Cravener asked a colleague to break a window and feel for a pulse.

“He started to break the window and she put her hand up to the window,” Cravener said. “At that point, it became a rescue.”

Hopkins’ notes on the umbrella were hard to make out but appeared to say, “six days, no food, no water; please help me; need a doctor,” Cravener said.

“It’s really something off that ‘Shouldn’t Be Alive’ show,” he said. “She really had a strong will to survive.”

Rescuers set to work cutting into the vehicle, pulling out Hopkins and taking her to the helicopter. It was a complicated extrication because of the location, said Cravener.

Hopkins was fairly responsive at first, even telling her rescuers she was not hurt. But they could see her face was badly bruised, possibly by the steering wheel or air bag.

“She didn’t talk a whole lot. She started to become less responsive as we carried her down the hill. We had to keep waking her up,” Cravener said.

The area had spring snow storms but not bitterly cold temperatures in the past several days.

Sightseers often stop at the spot but usually in the fall when the leaves are turning color. It was just by chance that somebody would stop at this time of year, Cravener said.

Her family thanked people for their thoughts and prayers.

Private Detective, Woman Carjacked and Kidnapped at Gunpoint

Here is a story about courage and survival. According to Mt. Sterling Police, a Montgomery County woman was kidnapped on Sunday, held at gunpoint and forced to drive her car for hours. All before she said she made an unlikely escape, and was shot at.

The victim is from Mt. Sterling and said her attacker was her neighbor’s 18-year-old son, Jesse Yaeger. After the alleged attack, Mt. Sterling Police said Yaeger shot himself in the face. As of Monday night he was in critical condition at the St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Virginia.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php
The victim said her will to live, saved her life. “It was terrifying to have to beg for your life, it was terrifying,” said the victim. So terrifying that the woman wanted to stay anonymous.

It all started around 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon when she was giving her neighbor, Jesse Yaeger, a ride to work. The woman said they pulled up to the Pilot Gas Station near the interstate, when suddenly the attack began.

“He turned to my passenger seat and clicked a gun, and pointed it at me and told me to keep driving,” said the victim. She said they drove for around three hours on I64 from Mt. Sterling to exit 179 in Ashland, then onto back roads.

“He still had the gun on me and he told me to get in the back seat and to take my clothes off.” said the victim. “And I had told him no, I started to beg for my life.”

She said after 30 minutes she finally convinced Yaeger they needed a more secluded area. As they drove off, she planned how to get away.

“He wanted me to turn down the next road and I missed it on purpose threw the car in reverse and jumped out, and I started running and he fired two shots at me then shot himself,” said the victim. Luckily she wasn’t hit, however Mt. Sterling Police said Yaeger shot himself in the face.

The victim said it was an opportunity for her to get to safety. “I ran to this woman’s house and collapsed on her porch and she helped me,” said the victim.

The neighbor in Ashland called 911, then the victim said the community surrounded her with love. It helped the woman end a horrific experience with one thought.

“There are still good people out there,” said the victim.

The victim said she is heartbroken for Yeager’s family. Police said depending on his condition, he could face charges for kidnapping and car jacking.

The victim said her car was ruined in this case and has been taken as evidence. She said she and her kids now have no form of transportation. If you would like to help, donations can be made to the Commonwealth Bank in Mt. Sterling, under “A New Car For A New Start”.

Wrongful Death Kentuckian Found Dead in Philadelphia Suburb

It’s news one Central Kentucky family is having trouble understanding.

A Bosnian refugee with a promising future as a chemical engineer was found beaten to death in a Philadelphia suburb.

Dino Dizdarevic was making the most out of the opportunity given to him back in 1993, when a Richmond church brought his family to Kentucky from Bosnia.

“He came from pretty bad circumstances,” Dizdarevic’s friend Drew Owen said.

But he turned it all around.

After graduating from Madison Southern, Dizdarevic went on to get a chemical engineering degree from University of Louisville and just a few months ago move to Philadelphia and accepted a job in nearby New Jersey.

“It was his dream job. He thought he was getting his life underway. He was getting everything he wanted,” Owen said.

The 25 year old was booked on a Thursday flight from Philadelphia to Cincinnati, coming home for the Kentucky Derby.

His sister got worried when he didn’t show up.

“And immediately I knew something really bad has happened here,” Owen said.

Dizdarevic’s body was found May 1 in Chester, Pennsylvania, about 18 miles from the city.

Family and friends don’t know how he got there or why he strayed from Philadelphia.

Police there said he’d been beaten to death and are investigating his death as a homicide.

“I don’t think he realized where he was going or what he was getting himself into,” Owen said.

Dizdarevic didn’t have a troubled past. He wasn’t into drugs or any criminal activity according to friends.

“He always thought that bad things happened to someone else,” Owen said.

Dizdarevic’s family is working on funeral arrangements and in the meantime, they’ve set up a memorial fund.

You can donate at any PNC Bank under the Dino Dizdarevic Memorial Fund.

Fraud Investigation Cyber-Related Scams Targeting Universities

The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is aware of multiple scams targeting universities, university employees, and students across the nation. The scams range from Internet fraud to intrusions. The following are common scenarios:

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

  • Spear phishing e-mails are being sent to university employees that appear to be from their employer. The e-mail contains a link and claims some type of issue has risen requiring them to enter their log-in credentials. Once employees provide their user name and password, the perpetrator accesses the university’s computer system to redirect the employees’ payroll allocation to another bank account. The university employees’ payroll allocations are being deposited into students’ accounts. These students were hired through online advertisements for work-at-home jobs, and provided their bank account information to the perpetrators to receive payment for the work they performed.
  • Scammers are posting online advertisements soliciting college students for administrative positions in which they would receive checks via the mail or e-mail. Students are directed to deposit the checks into their accounts, and then print checks and/or wire money to an individual. Students are never asked to provide their bank account information to the perpetrators.
  • Perpetrators are compromising students’ credential resulting in the rerouting of their reimbursement money to other bank accounts. The reimbursement money is from student loans and used to pay tuition, books, and living expenses.
  • Perpetrators are obtaining professors’ Personally Identifiable Information (PII) and using it to file fraudulent income tax returns.
  • Some universities have been victims of intrusions, resulting in the perpetrators being able to access university databases containing information on their employees and students.

If you have been a victim of one of these scams or any other Internet related scam, we encourage you to file a complaint with the IC3 at http://www.ic3.gov and notify your university police.
