Wrongful Death Lexington Police Say Man Confessed to Killing Infant

Police in Lexington say a father admitted to investigators that he killed his one-month-old son on Thanksgiving morning.

According to an arrest report, Caz Hazuga, 22, said he intentionally slammed the child’s head on the kitchen counter at his home on Henton Road several times. Hazuga was arrested Friday and charged with murder.

Folks living nearby said the 22-year-old and his family had only moved into the neighborhood a few weeks ago.

“I met the girl when she got out of the hospital with the baby. It was a beautiful little boy,” described neighbor, Myrna Kidd. “If this gentleman down here done what they say he’s done, he ought to have to live in prison for the rest of his life.”

LEX 18 spoke over the phone Saturday with the child’s mother. She said she does not know how her son died and that Hazuga’s confession was “forced.”

Hazuga is set to appear in court Monday.

Missing Person Body of Garland, TX Man Found in Car

Hal Ticknor, an 82-year-old Garland man with dementia who had been missing since early October, was found dead in a rural area outside of Seymour, Texas Friday afternoon, police believe.

Ticknor’s 2007 Chevy Equinox was discovered along with a body by hunters Friday afternoon, according to Garland police spokesman Joe Harn. The body will go to the Tarrant County medical examiner for positive identification.

Members of First United Methodist Church in Garland volunteered to search day and night for Ticknor in the weeks since he went missing. Pastor Clay Womack said while the outcome was sad, there has been lots of time for prayer and reflection.

“It does not come as a shock,” Womack said. “We are sad for the loss, but we are concerned for the care and support for Ann and family. The Ticknor family is a family of great faith, that gives us great confidence he is in a better place that we call heaven.”

Ticknor, an Air Force veteran, was last seen on Oct. 11. He filled his car with gas and asked two people for directions to Garland the day he disappeared.

Seymour, Texas is located 166 miles northwest of Dallas.

Missing Person Remains Found of Tucson Woman

A woman who’s been missing since last year turns out to be the victim of a homicide. Tucson Police first reported 37-year-old Victoria Delgado missing in September of 2012.

Detectives say she was last seen in the Grant and Alvernon area with a man who went by the nickname of “dizzy” or “drake”.

News 4 Tucson has confirmed her remains have been found.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

A poster was placed throughout Tucson a year ago by 88-CRIME. Victoria Delgado’s disappearance was a mystery. Now that her remains have been identified that mystery deepens.

“It was a violent horrible death, and somebody is walking out there knowing exactly what happened to hers,” says Pima County Homicide Detective James Brown.

Brown is working the case. Detectives say in March, people riding horseback in the desert near Casino of the Sun found remnants of Delgado’s body.

“Her remains eventually came washing up basically unearthed and located. There is quite a bit of time lapse when she went reported missing to when her remains were found,” says Brown.
But only recently, through DNA testing, did the Medical Examiners office determine the remains were Delgado’s.

Detectives say she’s a Native American, who had three children living in New Mexico.

“She had a lifestyle where she got involved with drugs and other illegal activity.” Because of that lifestyle, Detective Brown says Delgado knew a lot of people in Tucson. “It doesn’t matter who she was it’s still a death and its still violent death. That needs to bring closure to the case and as well as answers to the family.”

Shortly before Delgado was listed as a missing person, Tucson Police says she left in a white van with a man known as “dizzy” or “drake.”

Brown says, “It is suspected that whoever came in contact with her knew who she was.”
Detectives say they believe someone out there has information they need. “They’re walking around knowing they were the last ones with Tori. and I suspect if they were the last ones with Tori they could possibly have done something with Tori.

Fraud Investigation Oxford, Miss Woman Faces Charges

A Winston County woman faces a two-count federal indictment after she is accused of helping other woman cash a federal government check mailed to someone else.

Brenda Nunn, 27, of Louisville was indicted last week on charges she forged identification documents to assist with the cashing of the check.

The indictment says two women approached Nunn about working together to cash the check and split the proceeds.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

The check was issued by the U. S. Department of Treasury for $7,747 and arrived at one of the women’s home.

It was made out to a woman who no longer lived at the address.

Nunn is accused of producing a fake identification card by making a photocopy and replacing the photo.

The indictment says Nunn then contacted a check cashing company to vouch for the identification and the woman cashed the check.

Nunn has pleaded not guilty to the charges

Missing Person Man’s Body Found Under Bridge in Colbert County, AL

A missing man’s body has been found in the Shoals. Brioni Rutland was reported missing Tuesday afternoon.

Now, police are investigating his death as a homicide after a crime scene was discovered on a bridge and his body was found underneath.

Sheffield Police say they were called around 4:00 Thursday afternoon after a jogger on the Old Railroad Bridge found a large amount of blood. After investigating, crews discovered Rutland’s body Friday afternoon underneath the bridge.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

“Disgusted. For somebody to do that, regardless of whatever the circumstance is, it shouldn’t have happened,” said Rutland’s neighbor Tommy Mosley.

It all began Tuesday afternoon when Rutland’s girlfriend reported him missing.

“The investigators came over and I kind of thought something doesn’t add up because I don’t know him that well. But, he gave me the impression that he wasn’t the type of person that he would just vanish and disappear without somebody knowing where he was at,” said Mosley.

“The thing that concerned us most is he did not pick up his son from elementary school on Tuesday afternoon and he did not contact any family members to make arrangements. At that point, that’s when we became alarmed because that’s not his character,” said Tuscumbia Police Chief Tony Logan.

Things took a turn for the worse on Thursday afternoon with the discovery of a large amount of blood on the Old Railroad Bridge in Sheffield.

“Came back Friday morning in better light and continued and decided to put some boats in the water and to search the water underneath the bridge. At 1:34 p.m., we did locate a body underneath the bridge,” said Sheffield Police Greg Ray.

“Obviously there was some type of crime scene that took place on that bridge and it was a large crime scene, a lot of blood, so it was of grave concern. Obviously since we’ve recovered a body, it’s going to be related,” said Logan.

Police are not saying what happened or how Rutland died, but say there’s no reason for the public to be alarmed.

“It’s like with most violent crimes, the offender and the victim are going to know each other. So apparently, you know, we feel like through this process, once we do bring someone to justice, you’ll find that it’s someone that was acquainted with the victim,” said Logan.

Authorities have not released a cause of death. They expect the autopsy to take a couple of days.

Police say they are following up on leads and do not have anyone in custody at this point.

Missing Person Chandler, AZ Man Accused

A Chandler man was initially contacted by officers for having a dog off a leash but ended the day with an arrest in connection with identity theft and two failed escape attempts from a hospital, according to court documents.

Police arrested Miguel Alvarez, who is in his early 40s, in connection with a dog off a leash in the 440 block of North Arizona Avenue on Wednesday, according to the documents. Alvarez told the police his last name was Gutzman and officers later found a license with that name, police said.

But a check of the name and address on his license showed a picture of a 66-year-old man instead of Alvarez. He was arrested in connection with identity theft-forgery, possession of a forged instrument, offering a forged instrument and providing false information to police.

Alvarez was taken to a hospital for unclear reasons, according to the document. He attempted to escape twice and told police that he wanted to run away, police said.

Private Detective Man Breaks into Lexington Gas Station

Police say a man used a socket wrench to break into a Lexington gas station early Friday morning, but only got away with cigarettes.

The incident happened around 1 a.m. at the Speedway on Tates Creek and Old Mount Tabor Road. It’s the second break-in there in the past month.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

Police say the suspect broke the front door glass with a socket wrench, grabbed some cigarettes and left a trail of evidence to a church parking lot behind the store.

Officials say the suspect’s description matches another convenience store break-in off Polo Club Boulevard earlier this week.

Wrongful Death Kroger Employee Killed, Reward Offered

The St. Matthews Police Department has formed a task force to investigate the murder of a Kroger employee on Saturday, Nov. 23, at 10 p.m.

Jack Combs, 34, was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Hubbards Lane store while he was leaving work. Police say they do not believe this was a random killing and that Combs was targeted, possible by more than one person.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

“We believe that if he were targeted and this was specific to him that they probably knew when he was getting off work,” Det. Dennis McDonald said.

The task force will include detectives, evidence technicians and other personnel to specifically investigate this case. Police say they have obtained a large amount of surveillance video from several areas.

“That is something the detectives are combing through, not minute by minute, but second by second,” McDonald said.

The police also say the reward for any information on this case is now up to $20,000. If you have any information you’re urged to call Saint Matthews Police at 893-9000.
