Pedophile Tracking Fort Carson Officer Blames Twin Brother for Attacks

An Army officer tied by DNA to sexual assaults on children in two states says he’s being blamed for the crimes of his twin brother.

In an Oct. 22 court filing, attorneys for 1st Lt. Aaron Gregory Lucas say investigators picked the wrong Lucas after discovering a DNA link to an unsolved attack on a young girl in Madison, Alabama, in 2007, and another in Texarkana, Texas, in 2009.

Lucas, 31, is charged with luring or trying to lure 11 girls into his vehicle in Colorado, where he is stationed, between 2009 and 2012. He has pleaded not guilty. Trial is set for Jan. 4, the Colorado Springs Gazette reported Thursday (http://tinyurl.com/obffozp).

The Fort Carson, Colorado, artillery officer also is charged with child enticement and sexual abuse of a child younger than 12 in Madison. Texarkana police say they are waiting on the district attorney’s office there to approve an arrest warrant on similar charges.

Lucas’ attorneys, Ted McClintock and Elizabeth McClintock, filed a motion Wednesday asserting that the Alabama and Texas cases involve Lewis’ twin brother, Brian Lucas.

Forensic analysts commonly testify that DNA matches are definitive “in the absence of an identical twin.”

Brian Lucas has not been charged and could not be located for comment, the Gazette said. It said Brian Lucas had previous addresses in Madison and in Texas.

A telephone message seeking comment was left Thursday for Aaron Lucas’ attorneys.

El Paso County prosecutors say the Colorado victims’ ages ranged from 6 to 9 and that they were targeted at random in Colorado Springs and nearby Fountain by a man who tried to coax them into sex with promises of money and ice cream. Prosecutors contend three girls were assaulted during the encounters.

The incidents began shortly after Aaron Lucas’ arrival at Fort Carson with the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

A Colorado Springs police detective, Fred Walker, has testified the assaults stopped while Aaron Lucas was deployed to Afghanistan.

Aaron Lucas’ attorneys say an unidentified third man is responsible for the Colorado assaults.

Lucas was being held at El Paso County jail on $1.2 million bond. He could face life behind bars if convicted.

Wrongful Death Body of Missing Man Found in WV

There are many new questions in an on-going Charleston, WV murder investigation after the victim’s remains are believed to have been discovered in another county.

On Thursday morning, multiple law enforcement agencies sectioned off a portion of Old Turnpike Road in Raleigh County.

Two people looking for scrap metal in abandoned homes stumbled upon the human remains on Wednesday.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Investigators said the remains match the description of Kareem Hunter, who has been missing from Charleston since Sept. 23.

For neighbors like Duke Foster, the news is unnerving.

“It looks like it’s getting to be a regular dumping ground out here,” he said.

This is the second body found in the Harper Heights community within the past two months.  The body of Debbie Dalton was found underneath a vehicle tucked in bushes near a home in August.

The two cases aren’t connected, however, Raleigh County Sheriff Steve Tanner said the back-to-back nature of the cases is strange.

“Raleigh County doesn’t have this a lot so it is certainly an exception to the rule,” he said.

In the coming days, investigators said they will try to figure out who buried the body here, 60 miles away from Hunter’s home.

The body has been sent to the state medical examiners office for positive identification and cause of death.

So far, Kelsey Legg is the only person who’s been charged in Hunter’s death.  Previous coverage on Legg can be found here.

Authorities said they are not ruling out other people who might have been involved in his disappearance.

Wrongful Death Woman Faces 3 Counts of Murder for Perry Co. Crash

A Breathitt county woman faces murder charges after a summer crash that left three people dead. Billie Caudill was arraigned in court Wednesday where she pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder and driving under the influence.

Adrienne Sizemore’s brother, Danny Caudill, was killed in that car crash that took the lives of two other people as well. Now Danny’s wife faces three counts of murder for their deaths.

“Justice has been served for not only my family but for the Belcher family too,” said Sizemore.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

The crash happened near the Perry-Breathitt county line on July 3. Officials say 30-year-old Billie Caudill was driving under the influence when she crossed the center line and hit a truck head on. 70 year-old William Belcher and his wife, Lillie, also died in the crash.

“She deserves to be where she’s at. And I’m just really glad she is,” said Sizemore.

She says the indictment brings peace to her family who have been struggling since Danny’s death. Her brother is survived by a son, who Sizemore says is the youngest victim of this crime.

“He will know his daddy was loved. His daddy loved him. He will. Every bit and piece of his dad,” said Sizemore.

With the case expected to head to trial, Sizemore will be in court every day to make sure justice is served. And as she prepares, a piece of advice from her brother helps her carry on.

“He said, ‘eventually everything will come the way it’s supposed to.’ And now I can honestly say it has come the way it’s supposed to because she’s in jail, she’s behind bars and I don’t have to worry about her no more,” said Sizemore.

A grand jury indicted Billie Caudill on Friday. She’s also accused of driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Private Detective Search Continues for Mystery Man in SF General Patient Death

Authorities continued to search Wednesday for a mystery man wearing an employee badge who reported seeing a missing patient in a San Francisco General Hospital stairwell days before her body was found.

In an email to KTVU, hospital officials said they hadn’t found the man yet and hoped once they were able to identify him “it results in more answers to what happened to her, which we all want to learn.”

San Francisco General spokeswoman Rachael Kagan, echoed that sentiment.

http://liarcatchers.com/contact.php

“We appreciate the expanded efforts,” she said. “To find this important witness who may have information into the death of Lynne Spalding. We hope that it will lead to more answers to this tragedy.”

Authorities described the man as an Asian man, approximately 30-40 years old, five-feet-8 inches tall with a medium build.

At the time, he may have been wearing a blue shirt and possibly a tie. He also was wearing what appeared to be an employee identification badge.

David Perry, a spokesman for Spalding’s family, said hospital chief of staff Dr. Jeff Critchfield called the family and their attorney last week to update them on the investigation into her death.

Critchfield told the family that on Oct. 4 at 7:17 a.m., a man was heard knocking on the door of stairwell number 8, Perry said.

Critchfield said a female senior staff member opened the door, at which point the person who knocked reported that there was someone lying on the stairwell between the third and fourth floors, Perry said.

The person who made the report was apparently wearing a hospital badge, but rushed away after the report and has not stepped forward or been identified since then, Perry said.

Spalding, a 57-year-old woman who had been admitted to the hospital for an infection on Sept. 19, disappeared two days later.

Spalding, who family members said was frail and may have been confused due to medication she was taking, remained missing for more than two weeks despite searches of the hospital and surrounding neighborhoods.

Then on Oct. 8, she was found dead by a hospital employee doing routine inspections in a stairwell that had apparently not been checked during the previous searches.

The incident is under investigation by multiple agencies including San Francisco police and the sheriff’s department.

Wrongful Death Man Pleads Not Guilty in 13 Yr Old NY Girl’s Death

A 21-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to raping and fatally stabbing a 13-year-old western New York girl following a party she’d gone to without her family’s knowledge.

Darshawn Morris was ordered held without bail at his arraignment in state Supreme Court Wednesday on charges of second-degree murder, rape and criminal sexual assault.

Morris has been jailed since his arrest Sept. 4, a day after the body of Lanasha (lah-NAY’-shuh) Rollerson was found behind a garage near his home. The day she died, her family had reported her missing and blanketed the neighborhood with missing person fliers after realizing she’d left the house.

Police arrested Morris after learning he had sought treatment for an undisclosed condition at a Buffalo hospital. Commissioner Daniel Derenda said he confessed to the killing.
