Missing Person Remains Found in Search for Ohio Woman

Human remains have been found in a renewed search in Cleveland for a woman who was pregnant and 18 when she disappeared in 1995.

The medical examiner’s office confirmed the remains found Friday were human. There was no additional information on the remains.

Identification could take several weeks.

FBI spokeswoman Vicki Anderson says the search was part of a multi-agency investigation in the missing Christina Adkins case. She vanished Jan. 10, 1995.

The remains were found in a grassy, wooded area near an Interstate 90 ramp south of downtown Cleveland.

The FBI said earlier that the escape to freedom in May of three women held captive and raped in a Cleveland house over a decade prompted new tips in the case of Adkins and another missing woman.

Insurance Fraud Jacksonville, FL Man Arrested For Fake Report

A Jacksonville man was arrested Wednesday after a state investigation found he allegedly claimed to be carjacked and then filed a false insurance claim.

Orlando Robles-Santana, 40, was charged with false insurance claims ($20,000 or more; less than $100,000), according to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Inmate Search records.

The Florida Department of Financial Services’ Division of Insurance Fraud found that Robles-Santana reported his 2004 Jaguar was carjacked by two men in a pickup truck, according to a release from the office of Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater.

A year after Robles-Santana reported the alleged theft and was reimbursed by insurance for the vehicle, police found the car at a salvage yard.

The owner of the salvage yard said he was a friend of Robles-Santana, who asked him to watch the vehicle while he was out of the country, the release detailed.

“Auto insurance fraud drives up rates for all Floridians,” Atwater said in the release. “We will not stand by and let individuals like this steal the hard-earned money of honest Floridians.”

Anyone with information involving suspected insurance fraud is asked to call 1-800-378-0445. Citizens who provide tips can remain anonymous. The program rewards individuals up to $25,000 for information that directly leads to an arrest and conviction in an insurance fraud scheme.

Wrongful Death Lexington Man Sentenced for Role in Triple Murder

A Lexington man was sentenced Friday for his role in trying to cover up a triple murder committed by his father back in January 2011.

The attorney for William Blancet, Jr. said his client was sorry for his actions. On Friday morning in court, Blancet’s attorney argued his client suffered two heavy burdens no one should have to bear. The first was witnessing his own father commit a triple homicide, and the second being a key witness in the case that put his father in jail. The judge agreed, delivering the sentence that they were hoping for.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

Blancet, Jr. admits he helped his father hide evidence. His father, William Blancet, Sr., eventually admitted to pulling the trigger that killed Donald Adams, Sr., Donald Adams, Jr. and Ronnie Sparks, Jr.

At the time, the younger Blancet told investigators his father shot the men because he was angry about being “ripped off” during a drug deal. His attorney said that within just a few hours after that, he took the police back to some dumpsters and they recovered evidence in the crime, but that didn’t change the fact that at the time he should never misled police no matter how traumatic the situation was.

William Blancet, Sr. is currently serving a life sentence without chance for parole.

Missing Person Bodies of 2 Missing in Mississippi Found

Officials in east Mississippi say they’ve discovered the skeletal remains of two people missing for several months.

We were on the scene along Espey Road near Meridian Thursday afternoon as authorities identified the bodies. The sheriff calls it a crime scene, and he has a person-of-interest in custody.

Monday of this week, the family of a Lauderdale County woman reported her missing. They told Sheriff’s Department officials they hadn’t heard from Aketi Sims Washington since May.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

The Sheriff’s department began investigating, and their search led them to 7643-A Espey Road.

Authorities obtained a search warrant for the trailer and the property.

“One of our investigators uncovered what he believed to be a shallow grave, then a second grave was found,” says Sheriff Billy Sollie.

Sheriff Sollie says they began digging around 9:45 Thursday morning and quickly identified one man and one woman.

“The bodies are close together,” he says. “The head, or torso, are deeper than the rest of the body. There was some bones partially exposed that could be seen visibly on the ground.”

The sheriff identifies the victims as Aketi Sims Washington, the woman who was reported missing Monday. And the second person, according to the sheriff, is Algene Grant. Sheriff Sollie says Grant lived in the trailer on the property. He also says Grant was a sex offender who didn’t register in June as he was supposed to, and no one’s heard from him since.

The sheriff believes they’ve been dead since May or June.

Less than a mile up the road, Kevin Henson was doing yard work Thursday. He tells us he’s in disbelief two people were killed on his street.

“Now that I know exactly where it’s at, my daughter and I, we walk up and down this road for exercise, so it is a little disturbing this close to home,” he says.

Sheriff Sollie tells us they have a man in custody, but right now, he’s just a person-of-interest. He’s being questioned about the crime, but so far has not been charged.

Missing Person Canton, OH Woman

A woman who left her toddler with a friend in Summit County in late August is missing, and police believe she is in danger.

Capt. Dave Davis, who heads the Detective Bureau, said the friend showed up Thursday at the department to report Chantel Gentry, 21, of 16th Street NE as a missing person. The friend hadn’t heard from Gentry in more than a month.

“We did take a missing persons report from her and we are currently looking for her at this time,” Davis said Thursday afternoon. “We believe that she may be in danger due to the fact that it’s been such a long time that she’s contacted anyone.”

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

They’re also looking for Brian E. Thurmond — her boyfriend and the child’s father, Davis said.

Police have a warrant for Thurmond’s arrest on a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. He’s 22 with a last address of  515 Lakeview Dr., Apt. 4, in Alliance.

Davis said the warrant stems from a July 13 incident in which Gentry told police Thurmond had threatened to kill her and the baby boy and to cut off the child’s hands.

On Aug. 20, Gentry went to her friend’s home and dropped off the child, saying she had been threatened and needed to leave for a few weeks, the friend told police.

“She asked the friend to care for the baby because (Gentry) felt that the baby’s father was going to find her and the child and kill them,” Davis said.

Gentry reportedly kept in touch with the friend through text messages until Sept. 4, when the messages stopped.

Davis said the text messages never revealed where Gentry was staying.

Gentry is a white, 5 feet, 3 inches tall and about 130 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes, Davis said.

He asked that if she knows police are looking for her that “we would appreciate her calling the police and tell us what’s going on here.”

Davis also asked that anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Gentry or Thurmond call police at 330-489-3144 or 330-649-5800.
