Wrongful Death Elderly Man Dies After Fight with Roommate

In Lexington, one man is dead after getting into a fight with his roommate early Saturday morning. Now his roommate is behind bars, charged with murder.

Police say it started as an argument, then turned deadly at a home on Cambridge Drive.

42-year-old Claude Dalrymple and 73-year-old Dale Irons got into a fight around 7:00am, according to police. When police arrived at the home, Irons was taken to UK Hospital where he later died. Dalrymple was arrested and charged with murder. Although the cause of death is still under investigation, police say Irons suffered blunt force trauma.

“We were actually surprised because we knew some people that lived there but we didn’t know who it was that died,” remembers Daissy Santana, a neighbor.

Some neighbors say the area is predominantly a hispanic community, where everyone looks out for one another. Now, they are scared for their children’s safety.

“We are a little nervous with what happened so we’re going to an extra eye out on the kids and won’t let them go anywhere without us,” says Zobida Dominguez, a neighbor and mother.

Those who have lived in the area for several years say nothing like this has happened before and it’s a relatively quiet neighborhood, until Saturday morning when sirens flooded their streets.

The manager of the property declined to comment on camera.

Police say a third roommate lived in the house with Irons and Dalrymple but it’s not clear if he was at home when the fight broke out.

The incident is still under investigation.

Wrongful Death Woman’s Body Found in Car Trunk in CA

The 43-year-old son of a woman whose bound body was found Thursday in the trunk of a vehicle has been booked on suspicion of murder.

Clifton Huang is being held in lieu of $2 million bail in the death of his mother, 63-year-old Vilma Chau. Her body, with hands and feet bound, was found in the trunk of her vehicle in the garage of her Hacienda Heights home in the 15000 block of Las Tunas Drive.

http://liarcatchers.com/wrongful_death.html

The cause of death will be determined after an investigation by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner.

Huang was cooperating with authorities initially, but his demeanor changed when investigators turned their attention to him as a suspect, according to homicide detectives.

“Initially he was cooperative but as we started to focus on him as a possible suspect, he became elusive and uncooperative,” said Lt. Mike Rosson, with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department homicide bureau.

Huang may suffer from mental illness, according to authorities.

“He does, from my understanding, take medication for, I believe, for bipolar condition,” Rosson said. “I’m sure not an expert, but that will come out as we further the investigation.”

Huang lived in a house in Hacienda Heights not far from his mother’s home. He often exhibited strange and erratic behavior, neighbors said.

“He was screaming and yelling and jumping up and down,” said Mike Palmer, who witnessed such behavior from his neighbor on the Fourth of July. “He was screaming at the people lighting their fireworks, jumping up and down.”

Another neighbor said he often talks to himself outside.

“He’ll close up his garage, open it, really weird stuff. He lit his car on fire and it rolled and hit the wall back there,” Ruby Torres said.

“He’s not a bad person. He just needs help. He needed someone to make him take medication,” she added.

Family members who had not heard from the victim for days called authorities to the home. The family members reported a “strong odor” coming from the garage.

Huang was detained Thursday on a possible probation violation. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement Friday to confirm he had been arrested in connection with the slaying.

Hacienda Heights is about 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.

Anyone with information about the case can contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.

Identity Theft Mesa, AZ Man Arrested

Mesa police arrested a man on Saturday, Aug. 28 on suspicion of identity theft and forgery after he attempted to cash three checks that officers suspect that he had bought from a friend in Phoenix and were forged.

Brandon Frazier, 28, deposited the checks into two TCF banks in Mesa and one in Chandler on Aug. 26. He had planned to split the money with another person, according to court documents. A hold was placed on the checks, but not before $50 was withdrawn, the document states.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

Two of the checks were from business accounts that no longer are active and one from an active personal account, according to the document. Frazier had not been given permission to use the checks, police say.

Frazier was seen in video surveillance driving to each bank in a U-Haul truck he had rented on Aug. 23 using an Arizona driver’s license. When he was arrested, Frazier had multiple Social Security cards, passports, blank checks and driver’s licenses inside the U-Haul. Officers report he admitted that he paid $25 for each identification card, and that he did not know any of those whose names were on the cards.

Frazier served prison time in Indiana on fraud and forgery convictions, and is on probation in Arizona, according to law-enforcement authorities.

Pedophile Tracking Man Charged in Salem, NH

A lengthy investigation has resulted in an arrest for attempted aggravated felonious sexual assault: pattern sexual assault, but the investigation remains active and more charges could be forthcoming.

Ronald Libby, 72, was arrested Thursday on the single felony charge, the result of an investigation that started in 2012, Deputy Police Chief Shawn Patten said yesterday.

The potential victim in the case that prompted the investigation is not related to the charge now pending against Libby.

http://liarcatchers.com/pedophile_tracking.html

The suspect’s wife baby-sat for dozens of children in their home for decades, Patten said.

Libby’s wife told police she cared for an estimated 50 children over the past 20 to 30 years, he said.

The alleged victim told investigators Libby tried to get the child to touch him inappropriately and also tried to touch the child inappropriately “on numerous occasions,” Patten said.

“Obviously, it’s an active investigation due to the nature of the charges and the number of children who have been baby-sat over the decades,” Patten said yesterday. “Given the nature of the charges, we are concerned there are other potential victims out there. We are investigating this slowly, methodically; it’s very sensitive. We certainly do our due diligence before we bring charges.”

Salem detectives have worked closely with the Rockingham County Attorney’s Office and the Child Advocacy Center over the past several months, he said.

Several other potential minor victims have been identified, Patten said.

Libby was released Thursday on $50,000 personal recognizance, with conditions.

The charge suggests there was a pattern of conduct, specifically of repeated attempted sexual assault.

Anyone with information about the case or other potential victims is asked to contact Detective Brendan Gleason at (603) 890-2351.

Identity Theft Bagdad, AZ Teen Charged

Deputies with the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 15-year-old Bagdad male Wednesday on charges of burglary, theft of a credit card, fraudulent use of a credit card and identity theft.

The juvenile, reported to be on probation for out-of-state theft charges, was booked into the Prescott Juvenile Detention Center. Police said he confessed to possession of the credit card, as well as two other cards, that he later turned over to deputies.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

The juvenile reportedly told deputies the cards were stolen from an unlocked vehicle located on McKnight Street. He indicated that he attempted to use one of the cards at an ATM, but was unable to access the account without the PIN number.

The owner of the items reported the theft at the Bagdad YCSO substation earlier that day and said he learned a student from a local school had possession of the cards. After a brief investigation, a suspect was identified and interviewed at the school.

Fraud Investigation 3 Summer Tax Scams

Are you thinking about taxes while you’re enjoying the warm summer months? Not likely! But the IRS wants you to know that scammers ARE thinking about taxes and ways to dupe you out of your money.

Tax scams can happen anytime of the year, not just during tax season. Three common year-round scams are identity theft, phishing and return preparer fraud. These schemes are on the top of the IRS’s “Dirty Dozen” list of scams this year. They’re illegal and can lead to significant penalties and interest, even criminal prosecution.

http://liarcatchers.com/fraud_investigation.html

Here’s more information about these scams that every taxpayer should know.

1. Identity Theft. Tax fraud by identity theft tops this year’s Dirty Dozen list. Identity thieves use personal information, such as your name, Social Security number or other identifying information without your permission to commit fraud or other crimes. An identity thief may also use another person’s identity to fraudulently file a tax return and claim a refund.

The IRS has a special identity protection page on IRS.gov dedicated to identity theft issues. It has helpful links to information, such as how victims can contact the IRS Identity Theft Protection Specialized Unit, and how you can protect yourself against identity theft.

2. Phishing. Scam artists use phishing to trick unsuspecting victims into revealing personal or financial information. Phishing scammers may pose as the IRS and send bogus emails, set up phony websites or make phone calls. These contacts usually offer a fictitious refund or threaten an audit or investigation to lure victims into revealing personal information. Phishers then use the information they obtain to steal the victim’s identity, access their bank accounts and credit cards or apply for loans. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information. Please forward suspicious scams to the IRS at phishing@irs.gov. You can also visit IRS.gov and select the link “Reporting Phishing” at the bottom of the page.

3. Return Preparer Fraud. Most tax professionals file honest and accurate returns for their clients. However, some dishonest tax return preparers skim a portion of the client’s refund or charge inflated fees for tax preparation. Some try to attract new clients by promising refunds that are too good to be true.

Choose carefully when hiring an individual or firm to prepare your return. All paid tax preparers must sign the return they prepare and enter their IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN). The IRS created a webpage to assist taxpayers when choosing a tax preparer. It includes red flags to look for and information on how and when to make a complaint. Visit www.irs.gov/chooseataxpro.
