Pedophile Tracking Port Charlotte, FL Convicted

The former music director of a Middleton church pleaded no contest Friday to sexually assaulting a 14-year-old runaway who lived with a Mount Horeb police lieutenant who also faces sexual assault charges.

James “Alex” Gillespie, 48, of Port Charlotte, Fla., was convicted of second-degree sexual assault of a child for sex acts involving the Beloit boy, who at the time was living with Dennis Jenks in Madison.

Jenks, 44, was a Mount Horeb police lieutenant when he was charged Feb. 21 with repeated sexual assault of a child, but he has since resigned. Since his arrest prosecutors have added eight counts of sexual exploitation of a child and 24 counts of possessing child pornography. Jenks is scheduled to be back in court on Aug. 1.

Gillespie was music director of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Middleton. Police received tips about activity at his condominium and other concerns that eventually led them to the boy. Police found the boy living at Jenks’ apartment on Feb. 13.

According to a criminal complaint, Gillespie told police that he met the boy through social media and thought he was 18. The boy said that each time he was with Gillespie he felt guilty because he felt like he was cheating on another man.

Gillespie will be sentenced by Dane County Circuit Judge Stephen Ehlke in about two months after a pre-sentence investigation is finished.

Accident Reconstruction 3 Hurt in Richmond Rd. Crash

A bad wreck sent three people to the hospital and shut down Richmond Road. Around 7pm a motorcycle carrying two people collided with a car.

“I was here sitting at the light. Light turned green. Saw a couple on a motorcycle fly by, strike this car. The lady flew up in the air about 20 feet, landed face down on the ground,” said witness Josh Daugherty who was just one car between the car involved in the accident.

http://liarcatchers.com/accident_reconstruction.html

Lexington police say the motorcycle driver was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries. The driver of the car and the passenger of the motorcycle were also taken to the hospital with less serious injuries. The collision reconstruction unit has been on the scene for several hours.

Daugherty said several people who witnessed the crash helped the victims before ambulances arrived.

“My first instinct is to go out there and help, see what I can do and see if they’re okay. And then call 911 and try to get the ambulance here as quick as they can,” he says.

Police also say two nurses helped those injured in the crash.

Lexington Police expect Richmond Road near Locust Hill to be shutdown to traffic until at least midnight.

Identity Theft Sugar Land, TX Man Indicted in Multimillion-Dollar Scheme

A man from the Houston area who was arrested late last month at an airport while attempting to flee the country was indicted Friday in the Central District of California in what authorities allege is a multimillion dollar identity theft and tax refund fraud scheme involving more than 300 victims.

Fidelis Negbenebor, of Sugar Land, Texas, has been charged in a nine-count indictment returned by a federal grand jury charging him with three counts each of theft of government property, fraud in connection with identification documents, and aggravated identity theft.

http://liarcatchers.com/identity_theft_investigation.html

According to prosecutors, Negbenebor allegedly used stolen identities, Internet anonymizing services and computer connections originating from multiple computers located in Africa and the United States to electronically file fraudulent tax returns with the Internal Revenue Service claiming refund checks to which he was not entitled. The proceeds, once deposited into fraudulently opened bank accounts, were allegedly then transferred to other banks located in the U.S. and locations abroad, including Ghana and Nigeria.

More than 300 potentially fraudulent tax returns have been identified in connection with the scheme, with a total loss to the government of approximately $3,478,182. One refund check allegedly generated as part of the scheme was in the amount of $1,003,957 and mailed to a University of California, Los Angeles student housing address.

The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at Negbenebor’s Texas residence late last month. Items recovered from his home included several false identification documents and dozens of Social Security numbers belonging to other people.

The day after the search, Negbenebor traveled to Newark, N.J., and had made arrangements through an online Internet service to travel from New Jersey to Canada in an apparent attempt to flee the country. He was arrested on Sunday, June 30, 2013, at the Newark airport pursuant to the criminal complaint filed in the Central District of California. He has been detained pending trial in New Jersey and will be transported by the U.S. Marshals to the Central District to answer to the charges in the indictment.

According to prosecutors, he will have a post-indictment arraignment when he is transported to the Central District of California from the District of New Jersey, where he is currently detained. If convicted of the charges in the Indictment, Negbenebor faces up to 75 years in prison. In addition, the charge of aggravated identity theft carries a mandatory two-year prison term that must run consecutively with the other offenses. The investigation is being conducted by IRS Criminal Investigation in Los Angeles.

Missing Person Body of Martha Runyon Found in Canal

After an extensive three-day search, the body of 60-year-old missing resident Martha Runyon was discovered yesterday morning in the Delaware and Raritan Canal by a passerby, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Deputy First Assistant Prosecutor Doris Galuchie said Runyon was found wearing a backpack full of bricks and her death has been ruled a suicide.

http://liarcatchers.com/missing_persons_investigations.html

Runyon’s body was discovered just before 9:30 a.m. in the canal water by a woman who was walking her dog along the canal path, Galuchie said. Her office said the body apparently lay submerged in the water while an intensive search that included several law enforcement agencies continued, then surfaced and floated downstream before coming to rest against the embankment where it was found.

Runyon was found 300 yards south of Litho Road and about a mile from her home on Rose Tree Lane, from where she was reported missing by her husband early Monday.

She was last seen at the home around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, and had left the residence on foot, without her purse or cell phone, police said.

An employee of the Mercer County Division of Culture and Heritage, Runyon was described by a longtime co-worker, Tricia Sagan, as an artistic and kind person who appeared to have been troubled in the weeks leading up to her disappearance. Though she was much loved by her coworkers, she kept what was troubling her private.

Last Friday, charges were filed against her for drunken driving after she was stopped by police in Sinking Spring, Pa., Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams said.

Runyon’s mother died in February and the family had held a memorial service for the woman three weeks ago, Mercer First Assistant Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said.

Police began searching for Runyon Monday morning. The search included police officers, a bloodhound from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and a State Police helicopter.

On Tuesday, the Lawrence fire department and the State Police continued the search by conducting an extensive ground search around Runyon’s home and along the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park Trail, Onofri said. The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office and FBI also assisted.

“This is devastating news and we’re heartbroken,” County Executive Brian Hughes said. “Martha was an important part of the Mercer County family for the past nine years. Right now our thoughts and prayers are with Martha’s family during this difficult time.”

Runyon was responsible for the division’s newsletter and worked in a four-person office at the Division of Culture and Heritage. She also used her artistic talents to help design images and posters for other parts of the county government as well, Sagan said.

“She’s going to be missed,” Sagan said. “A lot of what people identify with the county visually is work done by Martha.”
