Tallahassee Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man they say may have lapses in memory and may appear confused.

The Tallahassee Police Department said that they are looking for 58-year-old Lenon Byrd.

They said that he was last seen on Sunday in the area of 4434 Gearheart Road. According to TPD, Byrd may have lapses in memory and may appear confused.

He is described as a 58-year-old African-American man, around 5’6, weighing about 170 pounds with black/gray hair and brown eyes.

TPD said that he was last seen wearing a black, long sleeve shirt and blue jeans. They say that residents in the area may receive a call from “A Child Is Missing”, a neighborhood alert program, providing a description of the missing person.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Tallahassee Police Department at (850) 891-4200.

A second woman has been arrested for allegedly burning a toddler in Madison County.

The Richmond Register reports Christabel Roman was indicted on four counts of criminal abuse and assault.

State Police say she and Britney Farris burned a two-year-old with hot water.

While it is unclear where the alleged abuse happened, investigators say several other children were found hidden at a Richmond motel and were told to give troopers limited information about what happened.

Both women are being held at the Madison County Jail.

Police in Lincoln County are investigating accusations of sex crimes that allegedly happened on a school bus.

Ryan Rayburn is the man Stanford Police have charged with two counts of first-degree sodomy. His arrest citation says last week the Lincoln County School Board received a complaint from a parent, which prompted them to review video surveillance on a school bus.

Police say Rayburn forcibly engaged in sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old female and an 11-year-old female while on the bus.

The school superintedent says that Lincoln County Board of Education officials were made aware of the incident involving students.

The school released a statement saying, “The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority of the Lincoln County Board of Education. Lincoln county school officials are actively cooperating with local police in their investigation.”

Rayburn is still in the Lincoln County Detention Center. He declined to speak with LEX 18.

The man accused of leading authorities on a pursuit in a dump truck pleaded not guilty on Monday.

It all started Friday afternoon in McCracken County. A dump truck was seen swerving along I-24 near exit 7. Cars had to swerve to dodge the dump truck after it crossed the median into oncoming traffic.

One video shows him driving the wrong way down the interstate before crossing the median again.

“It just kept getting worse and worse,” said Captain J.T. Coleman with the McCrackern County Sheriff’s Office.

At one point, Coleman joined the chase.

“The pursuit was coming and no sooner, I had cleaned my car, and I just watched him. It was like slow motion. I just watched him go by and it was almost instant that I realized he had got the spike strips,” he said.

The tiny spikes were powerful enough to take down the dump truck that authorities say was going more than 70 mph.

Investigators say that if it wasn’t for Coleman, more people could have gotten hurt that day.

“There’s a lot of officers that risked their lives yesterday. It wasn’t just me,” Coleman said.

Dalton Lampley, 23, is facing 17 charges including wanton endangerment of a police officer, driving under the influence, and possession of meth.

Lampley pleaded not guilty to those charges on Monday.

A person has been transported to the hospital after police say they were shot on Owenton Avenue.

Major Robert Warfel said the shooting happened Monday afternoon and that a suspect is in custody.

Officers were called to the scene around 4:45 p.m.

When they arrived, they say they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound laying in the street. Officers say the suspect was found hiding in the backyard of a residence and a brief standoff took place between the armed suspect and the officers.

Eventually, officers say the suspect dropped his weapon and was safely taken into custody.

No word yet on the victim’s condition.

Deputies in Laurel County are looking for an apparent runaway teen.

They say that 16-year-old Joshua Sawyers of London was last seen at South Middle School on Monday morning.

Deputies describe the teen as 5’9”, 150 pounds, with a light complexion and blonde hair.

The Somerset Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Sunday evening.

According to the Commonwealth Journal, Jason Lewis, 34, of Burnside was found shot to death at a home on Beecher Street.

Lewis was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital by Somerset-Pulaski County EMS, where he was pronounced dead by Pulaski County Coroner Clyde Strunk.

No arrests have been made at this time and the case remains under investigation by the Pulaski County Major Crimes Task Force and the Pulaski County Coroner’s Office. According to an SPD spokesperson, there is currently no danger to the public.

The Whitley County mother accused of shooting and killing her husband and two daughters has been indicted on charges of murder and wanton endangerment.

Courtney Taylor was not in court as her attorney learned that she had been indicted by a grand jury. Taylor is accused of killing her two daughters, 18-year-old Jessie Taylor and 13-year-old sister Jolee, and her husband 58-year-old Larry Taylor as they slept.

Deputies responded to the call about the shooting around 10:12 p.m. on January 13 at the Taylor home on U.S. 25 W. When they arrived on scene, deputies say Taylor brandished her weapon and pointed it at deputies once they entered the residence.

One deputy fired his weapon at Taylor, striking her. She was transported to Baptist Health Corbin and then to UK Medical Center, where she was released into police custody.

In a police interview, Taylor reportedly told officers she killed her husband when she discovered that a $264,000 cash settlement she deposited was almost gone. Troopers testified in court that Taylor left a letter explaining that she grew up unloved and didn’t want her daughters to grow up the same way.

Taylor’s arraignment is set for April 17.  She remains in jail on a $1 million cash bond.

A former Brashear High School math teacher must register as a sex offender after he pleaded guilty to one count of child pornography.

Adam Deutsch, of Allison Park, was sentenced to three years’ probation and 15 years on the sex offender registry during a non-jury trial.

As part of a plea agreement, Deutsch pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography as well as several drug charges. The district attorney’s office and a judge determined that probation and registering as a sex offender were a suitable punishment.

Investigators said they found about 50 images and 30 videos depicting child pornography on his flash drive after obtaining a search warrant in September. They also found more than 5 grams of methamphetamine and scales in his home.

Deutsch admitted to having a problem and told investigators that he downloaded the images.

“The evidence was overwhelming and, quite honestly, he’s been very cooperative with law enforcement all the way through,” said Charles Lopresti, Deutsch’s attorney.

In addition to probation and sex offender registry, Deutsch is required to attend therapy and counseling related to drugs and child pornography.

A Pittsburgh Public Schools official confirmed that Deutsch resigned from Brashear High School in September.

“It’s a relief he’s out of the school, but I feel sorry that there are people out there like that in the world. He’s a sick guy,” said Vincent Howze, a parent.  “I’ve got kids and I wouldn’t want anybody to do that to my kids. It’s disgusting.”

WPXI legal analyst Phil DiLucente said it’s not uncommon for a child pornography charge not to carry a jail sentence, considering that Deutsch is a first-time offender, didn’t touch anyone underage and had a relatively small amount of pornography.

A suspect led police on a car chase through multiple counties Saturday afternoon. Police say it all ended in Clark County, and a family who stopped to make sure everything was alright tells LEX18 they were carjacked at gunpoint by the suspect.

Before the case came to an end in Clark County, the suspect allegedly crashed two cars and tried to steal a third. One of those crashes happened in Mount Sterling which is where a family stopped to make sure everything was okay. That is when they say the suspect pulled out a gun and took their car. Eventually, the suspect crashed that vehicle in Clark County.

“The guy went over there, opened the passenger’s side door, pulled out a gun and said get out, ” said Kaleb Pearson, whose brother’s car was stolen by the suspect.

The suspect was captured in Clark County after he wrecked his vehicle and a short foot chase ensued. He as later identified as Gary Thomas. He is charged with 1st degree robbery, theft of motor vehicle, wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of a collision, and fleeing to elude police.

Thomas is lodged in the Montgomery County Jail.
