A suspect led police on a car chase through multiple counties Saturday afternoon. Police say it all ended in Clark County, and a family who stopped to make sure everything was alright tells LEX18 they were carjacked at gunpoint by the suspect.
Before the case came to an end in Clark County, the suspect allegedly crashed two cars and tried to steal a third. One of those crashes happened in Mount Sterling which is where a family stopped to make sure everything was okay. That is when they say the suspect pulled out a gun and took their car. Eventually, the suspect crashed that vehicle in Clark County.

“The guy went over there, opened the passenger’s side door, pulled out a gun and said get out, ” said Kaleb Pearson, whose brother’s car was stolen by the suspect.
The suspect was captured in Clark County after he wrecked his vehicle and a short foot chase ensued. He as later identified as Gary Thomas. He is charged with 1st degree robbery, theft of motor vehicle, wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of a collision, and fleeing to elude police.
Thomas is lodged in the Montgomery County Jail.
