Accident Reconstruction Bus in Montgomery County Involved in Accident

A crash involving a Montgomery County school bus sends a woman to the hospital, and caused some scary moments for several Camargo Elementary School children, and a mother who saw it all unfold. It happened around 3:40 pm on Kentucky 11 in Montgomery County near the Powell County line.

“It scared me. I just dropped what I was doing, and ran outside,” says Gemima Jones, who had a son and daughter on the bus.

Jones watched from her kitchen window as an SUV that had lost control hit the front of the school bus, and then crashed down an embankment. Kentucky State Police say the driver of the SUV may have lost control due to wet roads. As the bus came to a screeching halt, Jones and her family rushed to it.

“Mom and dad and Jimmy they ran outside to see if we was ok,” says Eunice Jones, a third grader.

“They were scared, they were crying. Both of them were thrown out of their seats. She got up and there’s a knot on her head where she hit the floor,” says Gemima Jones.

Police say none of the children had to go to the hospital. Eunice Jones insisted despite the bump, she’s OK.

The woman in the SUV was taken to the hospital. Police say she appeared to have some internal injuries.
