A man who pleaded guilty to murdering a Pike County sheriff’s deputy has been given a 30-year sentence.
David Childers pleaded to second-degree manslaughter and being a persistent felony offender.

Police say Childers crossed the center line on U.S. 460 in Belcher and crashed his SUV into deputy James Thacker’s cruiser. Thacker was killed.
