Police are asking for your help in locating the man who robbed a Mercer County convenience store at gun point Friday night.
Police said it was just after 11 o’clock Friday night when a South College Marathon clerk was confronted at gun point. The stores owner, Richard Morris, sid he was awakened in the middle of the night, with a telephone call from a clerk working at the store.
“Said he had been robbed. I thought was joking with me at first, but he said Richard, I’ve been robbed,” stated Richard Morris.

By the time Morris arrived at the station Harrodsburg Police were on scene. Surveillance video obtained by authorities details the man of interest. Lieutenant Chad Powell said the robber was in the store less than 15 seconds. The robber showed the clerk the butt of the gun, threw a camouflage backpack onto the counter, demanded money and fled. Authorities said he got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. K9 dogs with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office were able to track his scent for a short while, but soon lost it. The stores owner, Morris, said this isn’t the first time he has been robbed.
“I’ve been manager going on three years and we’ve been robbed 3 times,” said Morris.
In fact Morris said Friday nights robbery is almost like deja-vu.
“The sad thing about it is that we got robbed about this same time last year and it looks to be the same MO as the guy last year. This is not his first rodeo,” stated Morris.
At this time authorities said they aren’t sure if the two robberies are connected, an investigation is on-going.
Authorities are describing the person of interest as a white male about 6-foot tall and 170-pounds, with lines from a tattoo visible on the left side of his neck above his shirt collar. The man was last scene wearing a black ski mask, blue jeans, a navy sweatshirt, and black tennis shoes. If you have any information you are asked to call Harrodsburg Police.
